Catalina Pérez Salinas
Catalina Ilona Io Pérez Salinas (born 1990) is a Chilean lawyer, politician, and activist. She currently serves as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, representing the Antofagasta Region for the 2022–2026 term, and from January 2019 to June 2021 was president of the Democratic Revolution party. Biography Catalina Pérez Salinas was born in 1990 in Malmö, Sweden, to Ricardo Pérez Miranda and María Ángela Salinas Meza, who were exiled by the military dictatorship. Her family returned to Chile in 1994, settling in the city of Antofagasta. She attended primary and secondary school from 1997 to 2006 at the Liceo Experimental Artístico in Antofagasta, and she completed her studies in 2007–2008 at the Colegio Academia Tarapacá in Iquique. During the 2006 student protests in Chile, she served as coordinator of secondary students for Antofagasta and one of the movement's regional spokespeople. Chamber Of Deputies Of Chile
The Chamber of Deputies ( es, Cámara de Diputadas y Diputados, links=no) is the lower house of Chile's bicameral Congress. Its organisation and its powers and duties are defined in articles 42 to 59 of Chile's current constitution. Eligibility Deputies must: be aged at least 21; not be disqualified from voting; have finished secondary school or its equivalent; and have lived in the corresponding electoral district for at least two years prior to the election. Electoral system Since 2017, Chile's congress has been elected through open list proportional representation under the D'Hondt method. Before 2017, a unique binomial system was used.
