The Castelló Masters was a European Tour golf tournament that was played annually from 2008 through 2011. The event was held at the Club de Campo del Mediterráneo in Castellón, Spain. The inaugural event was won by Sergio García, who also happened to be the tournament host, having grown up playing golf on the course where his father is the club professional. García finished on a 20-under-par total of 264, winning by a margin of three strokes over Peter Hedblom. In 2010, 17-year-old Italian Matteo Manassero became the youngest-ever winner on the European Tour when he triumphed by 4 strokes over Ignacio Garrido. Castellón De La Plana
Castellón de la Plana (officially in ca-valencia, Castelló de la Plana), or simply Castellón ( ca-valencia, Castelló, link=no) is the capital city of the province of Castellón, in the Valencian Community, Spain. 2011 European Tour
The 2011 European Tour was the third edition of the Race to Dubai and the 40th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began in December 2010 with the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa, and culminated with the Dubai World Championship the following December. The full schedule included the four major championships and four World Golf Championships. The Race to Dubai was won by Englishman Luke Donald, who also collected the Golfer of the Year award having also headed the PGA Tour money list and ascended to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking during 2011. The 2008 European Tour was the 37th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began in November 2007 and consisted of 50 official money events, a drop of two from the previous year. This included seven major championships and World Golf Championships, which are also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 27 events took place in Europe, 11 in Asia, six in the United States, four in South Africa, one in Australia and one in New Zealand. The Order of Merit was won by Robert Karlsson, the first Swedish golfer to do so. The Golfer of the Year award was given to Pádraig Harrington, who won two major championships during the season and finished second in the Order of Merit. Christian Nilsson (golfer)
Christian Lars Nilsson (born 25 May 1979) is a Swedish former professional golfer. Professional career Nilsson was born in Karlstad, Sweden. He turned professional in 1999 with a plus 3 handicap. Nilsson played on the Challenge Tour full-time since 2004, playing few events before then. His first event on the European Tour was the 2005 Open Championship where he missed the cut. A winner of two major championships, he was also the No. 1 ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Ranking for eight weeks in 2011. The 2009 European Tour was the 38th series of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. There were major changes for the 2009 season as the tour entered a partnership agreement with Dubai based Leisurecorp. The Order of Merit was renamed the Race to Dubai with the addition of a new season ending tournament, the Dubai World Championship, being contested by the leading 60 players after the penultimate event for a US$7.5 million prize fund and a US$7.5 million bonus pool. The season began with five events in late 2008 and consisted of 54 official money tournaments. The season consisted of 47 tournaments, beginning with two events in December 2009 and culminating with the Dubai World Championship the following November. Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (born 13 October 1980) is a Spanish professional golfer. He has played on the European Tour, winning seven times, and on the PGA Tour. Early life Fernández-Castaño was born in Madrid. He started playing golf at the age of three and had a successful amateur career, winning the 2003 Spanish Amateur Open Championship and achieving the first place in the Spanish amateur ranking in the same year.
