Castellane Family
The House of Castellane is a very ancient French noble house originating in Provence and descended from Thibault, count of Arles in the 9th century. History Boniface, 1st sovereign baron de Castellane, lived in the 11th century. The sovereign barons de Castellane ruled over a small state bordering the Haute-Provence until the beginning of the 13th century, rendering homage to their overlord the count of Provence. Joséphine Pauline de Talleyrand-Périgord, Marquise de Castellane (29 December 1820 12 October 1890) was a French noblewoman. Early life Joséphine Pauline was born in Paris on 29 December 1820. She was the third legitimate child of the Edmond de Talleyrand-Périgord, the 2nd Duke of Dino and Princess Dorothea of Courland, the Duchess of Dino. She is often thought to have in fact been fathered by Edmund's uncle, Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord, prince of Bénévent. Count Maximilian Friedrich Karl Franz von Hatzfeldt zu Trachenberg (7 June 1813 – 19 January 1859) was a Prussian aristocrat and diplomat. By birth he was member of an ancient House of Hatzfeld. Emilio Rene Terry y Sánchez (1890–1969), known as Emilio Terry was a French architect, artist, interior decorator and landscape designer of Cuban-Irish ancestry. Stanislas De Castellane
Stanislas de Castellane (15 October 1875 - 4 July 1959) was a French politician, representing Cantal in parliament several times between 1902 and 1940. Biography He was born in Juigné-sur-Sarthe, the youngest son of Antoine de Castellane and a member of the House of Castellane. His elder brother was Boni de Castellane. He studied at the Paris Institute of Political Studies and entered politics at a young age, being elected to the Chamber of Deputies as a representative of Cantal in 1902, when he was 27. He lost his seat in 1906, was reelected in 1919 and again in 1928. Between 1930 and 1932 he was vice-president of the Chamber. In 1938 he was elected senator for Cantal. Jean de Castellane (24 April 1868 – 13 September 1965) was a French politician and member of the house of Castellane. In 1898 he married Dorothée de Talleyrand-Périgord. He was born and died in Paris. Life He was the second son of Antoine de Castellane and the brother of Boniface and Stanislas.
