Cassiopeia (Chinese Astronomy)
The modern constellation Cassiopeia lies across two of the quadrants symbolized by the Black Tortoise of the North (北方玄武, ''Běi Fāng Xuán Wǔ''), The White Tiger of the West (西方白虎, ''Xī Fāng Bái Hǔ'') and Three Enclosures (三垣, ''Sān Yuán''), that divide the sky in traditional Chinese uranography. The name of the western constellation in modern Chinese is 仙后座 (''xiān hòu zuò''), meaning "the immortal queen constellation". Cassiopeia (constellation)
Cassiopeia () is a constellation in the northern sky named after the vain queen Cassiopeia, mother of Andromeda, in Greek mythology, who boasted about her unrivaled beauty. Cassiopeia was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd-century Greek astronomer Ptolemy, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations today. It is easily recognizable due to its distinctive ' W' shape, formed by five bright stars. Cassiopeia is located in the northern sky and from latitudes above 34°N it is visible year-round. In the (sub)tropics it can be seen at its clearest from September to early November, and at low southern, tropical, latitudes of less than 25°S it can be seen, seasonally, low in the North. At magnitude 2.2, Alpha Cassiopeiae, or Schedar, is generally the brightest star in Cassiopeia, though it is occasionally outshone by the variable Gamma Cassiopeiae, which has reached magnitude 1.6. The constellation hosts some of the most luminous stars known, including the yello ...

Black Tortoise
The Black Tortoise () is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. Despite its English name, it is usually depicted as a tortoise entwined together with a snake. The name used in East Asian languages does not mention either animal; the alternative name "Black Warrior ~ Dark Warrior ~ Mysterious Warrior" is a more faithful translation. It represents the north and the winter season, thus it is sometimes called Xuanwu (Black Tortoise, lit. Black Warrior) of the North (). In Japan, it is named Genbu. It is said to protect Kyoto on the north side, being one of the four guardian spirits that protect the city. It is represented by the Kenkun Shrine, which is located on top of Mt Funaoka in Kyoto. The creature's name is identical to that of the important Taoist god Xuanwu, who is sometimes (as in ''Journey to the West'') portrayed in the company of a turtle and a snake. History During the Han dynasty, people often wore jade pendants that were in the shape of turtl ...

32 Cassiopeiae
3 (three) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 2 and preceding 4, and is the smallest odd prime number and the only prime preceding a square number. It has religious or cultural significance in many societies. Evolution of the Arabic digit The use of three lines to denote the number 3 occurred in many writing systems, including some (like Roman and Chinese numerals) that are still in use. That was also the original representation of 3 in the Brahmic (Indian) numerical notation, its earliest forms aligned vertically. However, during the Gupta Empire the sign was modified by the addition of a curve on each line. The Nāgarī script rotated the lines clockwise, so they appeared horizontally, and ended each line with a short downward stroke on the right. In cursive script, the three strokes were eventually connected to form a glyph resembling a with an additional stroke at the bottom: ३. The Indian digits spread to the Caliphate in the 9th ...

HD 15920
HD 15920 is a single star in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia. It has a yellow hue and is visible to the naked eye as a dim point of light with an apparent visual magnitude of 5.17. This object is located at a distance of approximately 268 light years from the Sun based on parallax, but it is drifting closer with a radial velocity of −4 km/s. This object is an aging giant star with a stellar classification of G8III. After exhausting the supply of hydrogen at its core, this star has cooled and expanded off the main sequence – at present it has ten times the girth of the Sun. The star is around a billion years old with 2.6 times the mass of the Sun. It is radiating 61 times the Sun's luminosity from its swollen photosphere at an effective temperature of 5,080 K. HD 15920 is the most likely source for the X-ray emission Astrophysical X-ray sources are astronomical objects with physical properties which result in the emission of X-rays. Several ...

42 Cassiopeiae
42 Cassiopeiae is a possible binary star system in the northern circumpolar constellation of Cassiopeia. It is visible to the naked eye as a dim, blue-white hued star with a baseline apparent visual magnitude of +5.18. The system is located approximately 291 light years from the Sun based on parallax, and is drifting further away with a radial velocity of +7 km/s. This is classified as a suspected eclipsing binary of the Algol type, with a period of 16.77 days and a magnitude decrease of 0.3. The primary is a B-type main-sequence star with a stellar classification of B9V. It is roughly 67 million years old and is spinning with a projected rotational velocity of 149 km/s. The star has 2.7 times the mass of the Sun and 2.6 times the Sun's radius. It is radiating 66 times the luminosity of the Sun from its photosphere at an effective temperature The effective temperature of a body such as a star or planet is the temperature of a black body that wou ...
