Casey Sherriff
Casey Sherriff (born 22 April 1998) is an Australian rules football Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by k ...er playing for the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW). Sherriff was recruited by Melbourne in September 2018 as a replacement for Melbourne captain, Daisy Pearce, who missed the 2019 season through pregnancy. She made her debut against at Casey Fields in the opening round of the 2020 season. Victorian Football League
The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. McClelland Trophy
The McClelland Trophy is an Australian rules football trophy which has been awarded each year since 1951 by the Australian Football League (known prior to 1990 as the Victorian Football League) to the best-performing club in the home-and-away season. Between 1951 and 1990, the Trophy was presented to the club with the highest aggregate points across the three grades of competition - seniors, Reserves and Under-19s - with senior wins carrying a higher value. After the AFL announced that the Under-19s competition would be shut down at the end of the 1991 season, to be replaced with an Under-18s competition independent of the AFL clubs, the Trophy has been presented to the club finishing the AFL home-and-away season on top of the ladder, thus merging the Trophy with the minor premiership. The 2020 AFL Women's season was the fourth season of the AFL Women's competition, the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia. Daisy Pearce
Daisy Pearce (born 27 May 1988) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Melbourne Football Club in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. Often regarded as the face of women's Australian rules football, Pearce has served as Melbourne captain since the competition's inaugural season, having previously captained the club in the women's exhibition games staged prior to the 2016 creation of the league. She captained Victoria in the inaugural AFL Women's State of Origin match in 2017, where she was adjudged best afield. Pearce began her state league playing career in 2005 with the Darebin Falcons in the Victorian Women's Football League (VWFL) in 2005, captaining the club from 2008 to 2016. Casey Fields is a $30 million, 70 hectare multi-sports complex in the City of Casey at Cranbourne East a southeastern suburb of Melbourne. The complex is home to Australian rules football, cricket, netball, soccer, tennis, cycling, golf, and rugby football. A prominent arena within the complex is the VFL Oval, an Australian rules football oval which serves as the home of the Casey Demons in the Victorian Football League.
