Casebook (TV Series)
''Casebook'' is an Australian educational documentary series produced by the Seven Network from 1966 to 1968. It was made with the cooperation of the Australian Medical Association. Each episode usually contained 2–3 segments relating to medical advice given by a real doctor (Dr John) to patients (played by professional actors) suffering from a variety of illnesses. One of the directors was David Cahill. Little is known about this series. Educational Television
Educational television or learning television is the use of television programs in the field of distance education. It may be in the form of individual television programs or dedicated specialty channels that is often associated with cable television in the United States as Public, educational, and government access (PEG) channel providers. There are also adult education programs for an older audience; many of these are instructional television or "telecourse" services that can be taken for college credit, such as the Open University programs on BBC television in the UK. Many children's television series are educational, ranging from dedicated learning programs to those that indirectly teach the viewers. Some series are written to have a specific moral behind every episode, often explained at the end by the character that learned the lesson. David Cahill
David Cahill (1917 – August 2008) was an Australian actor, writer producer and director, notable for his work directing in TV in the 1950s through to 1970s. It has been argued he was one of the best directors working in Australian TV. He was an actor and writer. In the mid 1950s he spent time in England. Seven Network
The Seven Network (commonly known as Channel Seven or simply Seven) is a major Australian commercial free-to-air Television broadcasting in Australia, television network. It is owned by Seven West Media, Seven West Media Limited, and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. The network's headquarters are located in Sydney. As of 2014, it is the second-largest network in the country in terms of population reach. The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), known as ScreenSound Australia from 1999 to 2004, is Australia's audiovisual archive, responsible for developing, preserving, maintaining, promoting and providing access to a national collection of film, television, sound, radio, video games, new media, and related documents and artefacts. The collection ranges from works created in the late nineteenth century when the recorded sound and film industries were in their infancy, to those made in the present day. The NFSA collection first started as the National Historical Film and Speaking Record Library (within the then Commonwealth National Library) in 1935, becoming an independent cultural organisation in 1984.
