Carter Merbreier
W. Carter Merbreier (August 2, 1926 – August 9, 2016) was an American television personality, ordained Lutheran minister and former police chaplain for the Philadelphia Police Department. Merbreier created and co-hosted the long-running syndicated children's television series, '' Captain Noah and His Magical Ark'', in 1967. The show aired until 1994. Born to Adolphe and Retta (née Carter) Merbreier, Carter Merbreier (he apparently later added the initial "W.") co-hosted ''Captain Noah and His Magical Ark'' with his real-life wife, Patricia. He played Captain Noah while Patricia Merbreier played Mrs. Noah and acted as the show's puppeteer, beginning with its 13th week on the air. Merbreier originally created the series as a Sunday morning religious program, but switched the format to a children's show in 1970. Prospect Park, Pennsylvania
Prospect Park is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,454 at the 2010 census, down from 6,594 at the 2000 census. It originated as a bedroom community of Philadelphia. It is located within of Center City, Philadelphia, with convenient rail access (SEPTA, and connection to Amtrak). Gladwyne is a suburban community in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States along the historic Philadelphia Main Line. ''Captain Kangaroo'' is an American children's television series that aired weekday mornings on the American television network CBS for 29 years, from 1955 to 1984, making it the longest-running nationally broadcast children's television program of its day. In 1986, the American Program Service (now American Public Television, Boston) integrated some newly produced segments into reruns of past episodes, distributing the newer version of the series to PBS and independent public stations until 1993.
