Carry On Girls
''Carry On Girls'' is a 1973 British comedy film, the 25th release in the series of 31 ''Carry On'' films (1958–1992). The film features regulars Sid James, Barbara Windsor, Joan Sims, Kenneth Connor, Bernard Bresslaw and Peter Butterworth. This ''Carry On'' featured neither Kenneth Williams nor Charles Hawtrey; Williams was unavailable and Hawtrey had been dropped from the series. Patsy Rowlands makes her seventh appearance in the series. Robin Askwith makes his only appearance in the series. Jack Douglas makes his third appearance, this time upgraded to a main role. Gerald Thomas
Gerald Thomas (10 December 1920 – 9 November 1993) was an English film director, best known for the long-running ''Carry On'' series of British film comedies. Biography Born in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, Thomas was educated in Bristol and London, and was training in medicine when World War II began. He served four years in the British Army during the war, and upon his return to civilian life thought it too late to continue his medical studies. He began his movie career at Denham Studios, eventually becoming an assistant film editor beginning with Laurence Olivier's ''Hamlet'' (1948). His editing work included many films directed by his older brother, Ralph Thomas. His own directorial debut was the short film '' Circus Friends'' (1956), produced by the Children's Film Foundation. Alfred Roome
Alfred Wallace Roome (22 December 1908 – 19 November 1997) was an English film editor and occasional director. Biography Born in London, in 1908, he first worked in the film industry as a film editor on the 1932 British comedy film '' Thark''. He went on to edit mostly comedies over the next forty years including many of the Aldwych Farces films, and Will Hay films such as '' Boys Will Be Boys''. He directed crime film '' My Brother's Keeper'' (1948) and comedy film '' It's Not Cricket'' (1949). In the latter years of his career he edited the Carry On series of films alongside the director, Gerald Thomas. He retired in 1975 after editing ''Carry on Behind''. Personal life Roome married the actress Janice Adair on 20 February 1936; they remained married until her death in 1996. The couple had two children, a daughter and a son Christopher who was killed in the King's Cross tube station fire of 1987. David Lodge (actor)
David William Frederick Lodge (19 August 1921 – 18 October 2003) was an English character actor. Career During the Second World War, Lodge served in the RAF. Before turning to acting he worked as a circus clown. He also appeared in Gang Shows and variety before making his screen debut in ''The Cockleshell Heroes'' and going on to feature in many British films usually portraying military types, and often comedic roles. He was a close friend of Peter Sellers and appeared as part of Spike Milligan's team on his '' Q'' programmes (a running gag being that in each episode he or Spike would mention his role in ''The Cockleshell Heroes''). Lodge was very prolific during the 1950s and in 1958 alone he appeared in ten films. Patricia Franklin (born 11 September 1942) is an English actress best known for her roles in five ''Carry On'' films. Early life Born in East Finchley, London, Franklin and her family frequently went to see shows at the nearby amateur theatre and after seeing the theatre company, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, offered drama classes, Franklin decided to join. After appearing in several productions, Franklin joined Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Career Upon leaving RADA, Franklin's first acting role was as a hostess in an episode of ''At Last The 1948 Show'' in 1968. After this, she spent nine months in the West End in ''Uproar in the House'' with Joan Sims and Peter Butterworth. Kenneth Williams
Kenneth Charles Williams (22 February 1926 – 15 April 1988) was an English actor of Welsh heritage. He was best known for his comedy roles and in later life as a raconteur and diarist.
