''Carrotblanca'' is a 1995 8-minute ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon. It was originally shown in theaters alongside ''The Amazing Panda Adventure'' (in North America) and ''The Pebble and the Penguin'' (internationally). It was subsequently released on video packaged with older ''Looney Tunes'' cartoons and was included in the special edition DVD, and later HD DVD and Blu-ray, releases of ''Casablanca (film), Casablanca'', the film to which it is both a parody and an Homage (arts), homage. At the time of release, WB did not own the rights to ''Casablanca'' (such rights were with Turner Entertainment – they still technically hold the film today, but WB became responsible for distribution a year after the short's release as a result of their Time Warner, parent company's purchase of Turner in 1996). HD DVD
HD DVD (short for High Definition Digital Versatile Disc) is an obsolete high-density optical disc format for storing data and playback of high-definition video. Supported principally by Toshiba, HD DVD was envisioned to be the successor to the standard DVD format. HD DVD employed a blue laser with a shorter wavelength (with the exception of the 3× DVD and HD REC variants), and it stored about 3.2 times as much data per layer as its predecessor (maximum capacity: 15 GB per layer compared to 4.7 GB per layer on a DVD). The format was commercially released in 2006 and fought a protracted format war with rival Blu-ray. On February 19, 2008, Toshiba abandoned the format, announcing it would no longer manufacture HD DVD players and drives. The HD DVD Promotion Group was dissolved on March 28, 2008. Pepé Le Pew is an animated character from the Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons, introduced in 1945. Depicted as a French striped skunk, Pepé is constantly on the quest for love. However, his offensive skunk odor and his aggressive pursuit of romance typically cause other characters to run away from him. Premise Pepé Le Pew storylines typically involve Pepé in pursuit of a female black cat, whom Pepé mistakes for a skunk ("la belle femme skunk fatale").
