Carrigdhoun GAA
Carrigdhoun GAA is one of the eight baronies or Gaelic Athletic Association divisions that make up Cork. The division is made up of eleven Gaelic Athletic Association teams, making it one of the smaller divisions. The division is also known as the South East division. It extends from just south of Cork city down to Ballinspittle in the south of the county. The 11 teams are Ballinhassig, Ballygarvan, Ballymartle from Riverstick, Belgooly, Carrigaline, Crosshaven, Courcey Rovers from Ballinadee and Ballinspittle, Kinsale, Shamrocks from Ringaskiddy/ Monkstown, Tracton from Minane Bridge, and Valley Rovers from Innishannon. The division selects players from all clubs except any that is senior (at present Courcey Rovers in hurling and Valley Rovers and Carrigaline in football) to represent the division in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship and in the Cork Senior Football Championship. Barony (Ireland)
In Ireland, a barony ( ga, barúntacht, plural ) is a historical subdivision of a county, analogous to the hundreds into which the counties of England were divided. Baronies were created during the Tudor reconquest of Ireland, replacing the earlier cantreds formed after the original Norman invasion.Mac Cotter 2005, pp.327–330 Some early baronies were later subdivided into half baronies with the same standing as full baronies. Seán McCarthy (hurler)
Seán McCarthy (born 8 February 1966) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a right wing-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Ballinhassig, County Cork, along with brothers Damien who was on cork minor, under-21 intermediate, Denis, Drew and his sister Marion who was on cork camogie. McCarthy first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team before later joining the under-21 and junior sides. He made his senior debut during the 1986–87 league. McCarthy subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won one All-Ireland medal, two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team, McCarthy never won Railway Cup medal. Brendan Lombard
Brendan Lombard (born 22 March 1980) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Ballinhassig and divisional side Carrigdhoun and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. Lombard usually lined out in defence. Career Lombard first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Ballinhassig club before eventually progressing onto the club's top adult team. During a hugely successful career he won numerous South East titles, three County Championship titles across two grades, Munster club Championships and an All-Ireland Junior Club Championship title in 2003. He also earned selection to the Carrigdhoun divisional team. Kieran Kingston
Kieran Kingston (born 9 September 1964) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who managed the Cork senior hurling team between 2015 and 2022 (with a hiatus between 2017 and 2019), for which he previously lined out as a player. He spent much of his playing career as a forward. Kingston began his hurling career at club level with Tracton. He broke onto the club's top adult team straight out of the minor grade in 1982. Kingston made 36 championship appearances and scored 17 goals for the club in a 17-year career that ended in 1999. During his time he was also earned regular inclusion on the Carrigdhoun divisional team. Having never played minor hurling, Kingston began his inter-county career with the Cork under-21 team in 1983. Terry Kelly (hurler)
Terence Kelly (1934 – 25 November 2019) was an Irish hurler who played for a number of clubs, including Tracton and Blackrock in Cork and Éire Óg in Dublin. He played for the Cork senior hurling team at various times between 1953 and 1963, during which time he usually lined out as a forward. Playing career St. Finbarr's College Kelly first came to prominence as a hurler with St. Finbarr's College in Cork. Having played in every grade as a hurler, he was eventually appointed captain of the college's senior hurling team. On 2 March 1952, Kelly captained the team from midfield to a 1-05 to 1-03 defeat by St. Flannan's College in the Harty Cup final. Patrick Collins (born 12 September 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a goalkeeper for club side Ballinhassig, university side Cork Institute of Technology and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Martin Coleman Jnr (born 15 February 1983) is an Irish hurler who plays as a goalkeeper for club side Ballinhassg, divisional side Carrigdhoun and formerly at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Martin Coleman
Martin Coleman (born 1 August 1950) was an Irish hurler and selector. His career included All-Ireland Championship victories as goalkeeper with Cork's three-in-a-row team of the 1970s and later as a selector with various Cork teams. After beginning his career at club level with Ballinhassig, Coleman joined the Cork minor team as a 16-year-old in 1967 and won an All-Ireland Minor Championship in his debut year. After winning back-to-back All-Ireland Under-21 Championships, he was promoted to the Cork senior team in 1970. Coleman eventually succeeded Paddy Barry as Cork's first-choice goalkeeper and made a total of 19 championship appearances in a career that ended with his last appearance in 1980. John Kevin Coleman
John Kevin Coleman (born 1944) is an Irish former hurler and politician. At club level he played with Ballinhassig, divisional side Carrigdhoun and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. Coleman also spent some time as an elected representative with Cork County Council. Playing career Coleman first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Ballinhassig club while also lining out with St. Finbarr's College in the Harty Cup. He progressed to adult club level, alongside his six brothers, and enjoyed a hugely successful career, winning five Carrigdhoun JFC titles, two Cork JHC titles and two Cork IHC titles. Belgooly GAA
Belgooly GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Belgooly in south Cork, Ireland. It was formed, in its current guise, in 1972. The Cork Premier Senior Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bon Secours Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSFC) is an annual club Gaelic football competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format.
