Carrigaline United A.F.C.
Carrigaline United Association Football Club is an Irish association football (soccer) club based in Carrigaline, County Cork. As of 2022, the club's men's team plays in the Munster Senior League Senior Premier Division. History The club was founded in 1972, and originally played at the Pottery Field, today the site of the Carrigaline Court Hotel. They moved to Ballea Park in 1985. A new clubhouse, bar and changing rooms was opened in 2004 and an all-weather pitch in 2012. In 2011, a "Football for All" program was established, allowing access to team sport for young people aged 6–18 with disabilities and neurodivergence. Carrigaline United have qualified for the FAI Cup on several occasions, including in 2006 and 2009. Their first appearance was in the 2006 FAI Cup, in which they reached the last 32. Munster Senior League Senior Premier Division
The Munster Senior League Senior Premier Division is the top division of the Munster Senior League. It is organized by the Munster Football Association. Together with the Leinster Senior League Senior Division and the Ulster Senior League Senior Division, it forms the third level of the Republic of Ireland football league system. Clubs from this division play in the Munster Senior Cup, the FAI Cup, and the FAI Intermediate Cup. In recent seasons the winners of the Senior Division have also been invited to play in the League of Ireland Cup. Carrigaline
Carrigaline () is a town and civil parish in County Cork, Ireland, situated on the River Owenabue. Located about south of Cork city, and with a population of 15,770 people, it is one of the largest commuter towns of the city. The R611 regional road passes through the town, and it is just off the N28 national primary route to Ringaskiddy. Carrigaline grew rapidly in the late 20th century, from a village of a few hundred people into a thriving commuter town although some locals still refer to it as "the village". The town is one of the key gateways to west Cork, especially for those who arrive by ferry from France. Carrigaline is within the Cork South-Central Dáil constituency. Neurodivergence
Neurodiversity refers to diversity in the human brain and cognition, for instance in sociability, learning, attention, mood and other mental functions. It was coined in 1998 by sociologist Judy Singer, who helped popularize the concept along with journalist Harvey Blume, and situates human cognitive variation in the context of biodiversity and the politics of minority groups. The Football Association of Ireland Senior Challenge Cup (FAI Cup), known as the Extra.ie FAI Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a knock-out association football competition contested annually by teams from the Republic of Ireland (as well as Derry City from Northern Ireland). 2006 FAI Cup
The FAI Cup 2006 was the 86th staging of The Football Association of Ireland Challenge Cup or FAI Cup. This season's competition was the last to be sponsored by Carlsberg. It officially kicked off in late April, when twenty clubs from the junior and intermediate leagues battled it out for the chance to face League of Ireland opposition in the second round. The FAI Intermediate Cup ( ga, Corn Comortais Peile na hÉireann), also known as the FAI Umbro Intermediate Cup and the Pat O'Brien Intermediate Challenge Cup, is a cup competition organized by the Football Association of Ireland for intermediate association football clubs from the Republic of Ireland. These include clubs competing in the Leinster Senior League, the Munster Senior League and the Ulster Senior League. Stephen Carroll (born 30 November 1993) is an Irish footballer who is the captain for Detroit City in the USL Championship. Career Early career Carroll played in his native Ireland with Wilton United, also playing both football and Gaelic football with Ballincollig until he was 16-years old, before joining the Cork City academy. He appeared on the bench for Cork's senior team in 2012, before going on loan to College Corinthians in the Munster Senior League. A spell at Carrigaline United in the Munster First Division followed in 2013, who he helped to promotion. Aaron John Drinan (born 6 May 1998) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Leyton Orient. He played youth football for Irish sides Carrigaline United, Cobh Ramblers and Cork City, before joining League of Ireland side Waterford in 2017, making his senior debut in August 2017. He helped Waterford to win the League of Ireland First Division title during his first season in senior football. In January 2018, Drinan signed for English club Ipswich Town.
