Georges Carrère (19 May 1897 – 31 December 1986) was a French classical violinist and head of the Conservatoire de Bordeaux and the l’ Orchestre Philharmonique de Bordeaux. Biography Born in Bordeaux by a father conductor at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux and a singing mother,Edmond Cardoze, ''Musique et Musiciens en Aquitaine'', Aubéron, 1992, . Carrère studied music in Bordeaux where he obtained a First Prize for violin in 1912 in Joseph Gaspard's class. Emmanuel Carrère (born 9 December 1957) is a French author, screenwriter and film director. Life Family Carrère was born into a wealthy family in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. His father, Louis Carrère d'Encausse, is a retired insurance executive. His mother, historian Hélène Carrère d'Encausse (born Hélène Zourabichvili, the daughter of Georgian émigrés), is a member and perpetual secretary of the Académie française and former member of the European Parliament. Carrere Records (french: Disques Carrère, link=no, ) was a French record label which specialized in Euro disco and rock music. The record company was sold to Warner Music Group in the early 1990s. Early days Claude Carrere started working with Annie Chancel in 1962 and renamed her Sheila, who remained his sole artist for a while. He set up Carrere Productions and the records were distributed by Philips Records. In the late 1960s, he created Disques Carrere. In 1972, he produced and distributed his own releases. A lot of singers would be signed alongside Sheila, the most important ones being Ringo (Sheila's husband), Dalida and even Claude François. In 1977, the disco group Sheila and B. Devotion was created and Carrere started exporting his releases. ''Carrère'' was a French frigate that served briefly in the French navy before the British captured her in 1801, naming her HMS ''Carrere''. She seems never to have seen any meaningful active duty after her capture as she was laid up in 1802 and finally sold in 1814.
