Carrefour Angrignon is a shopping centre in the Montreal borough of LaSalle, Quebec, Canada. Popular stores include Hudson's Bay, Staples, Best Buy, Maxi and Famous Players. There is also a food court. Built in 1986, it is located on Newman Boulevard, at the intersection with Angrignon Boulevard. History Carrefour Angrignon opened in August 1986 with 200 stores and anchors from its debut were Sears, Zellers, Maxi, Eaton's and Pascal's. The Pascal's hardware chain went bankrupt in 1991. The mall underwent changes in 1991, as the former Pascal's store became a car lot for a one-year period (Rallye Honda Lasalle) prior to being split in two to become a movie theatre. Zellers was a Canadian discount department retail chain and is currently a brand name owned by the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). Founded in 1931 in London, Ontario, in later decades it was based in Brampton, Ontario. Zellers was acquired by HBC in 1978 before closing in 2013. A series of acquisitions and expansions allowed Zellers to reach its peak in the 1990s, with 350 stores across the country in 1999. However, fierce competition by Walmart Canada and an inability to adjust to the increasingly volatile retailing industry resulted in Zellers losing significant ground in the 2000s. Proxim (also known by its corporate name Groupe PharmEssor) is a Canadian group of pharmacists located in Quebec and to a lesser extent in Ontario and the Maritimes provinces. Cumberland Drugs was a pharmacy chain that operated stores in Quebec (with majority of them in the Montreal area) and Eastern Ontario. Founded in 1967, Cumberland Drugs was sold in 1997 upon the retirement of Morrie Neiss (none of his heirs were interested in carrying on the family business), selling most stores to Jean Coutu, Uniprix and Essaim/Obonsoins (now Proxim).
