José María Martín Carpena (Málaga, 1950 - Málaga, 2000) was a politician in the Partido Popular who was killed by ETA on July 15, 2000. Biography He graduated with a degree in business administration, specializing in taxation and tax consultancy, and he also worked at the National Institute of Social Security in the Spanish Ministry of Social Affairs. His political career began when he was appointed Councillor by the Partido Popular on April 21, 1997, succeeding Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla who went on to serve as Deputy to the Regional Government of Andalusia. In the 1999 municipal elections, Carpena ranked number 15 in the list led by Celia Villalobos. His position as Councilman for the Partido Popular was reconfirmed as they obtained an absolute majority with 19 councillors. Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena (Jose Maria Martin Carpena Arena) is an indoor sporting arena that is located in Málaga, Spain. The current seating capacity of the arena is 11,300 for sports, and 10,000 for large concert events. History Martín Carpena arena opened in 1999. It has been the long-time home arena to one of Spain's top basketball teams, Unicaja Málaga, of the Liga ACB. The arena originally had a seating capacity of 9,743 spectators, and an area of around 22,000 square meters. In 2007, a project was proposed to expand the capacity of the venue to 17,000 spectators, due to the high demand for seats and tickets by fans of Unicaja Málaga. Ultimately, the expansion project was approved, but to a new capacity of 13,000 spectators, rather than the originally planned 17,000. Pepita Carpeña
Josefa Carpena-Amat (December 19, 1919 – June 5, 2005), known by the pseudonym Pepita Carpeña, was a militant trade unionist, writer, and Spanish anarchist. Biography Born in Barcelona, Spain, Pepita started working at the age of twelve. At the age of 14, she became involved in the Spanish Revolution and was active with the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT). In late 1937, Carpeña joined the anarchist-feminist movement Mujeres Libres, later becoming its propaganda secretary. During this time, she worked in a weapons factory. She became a women's liberationist. In 1939, she was obliged to leave Spain, and lived the rest of her life in Marseilles, France. From April 1992 to June 1993, Pepita wrote her memoirs called "De Toda la Vida" in Castilian. She translated this into French for another memoir called ''Toute une vie: memoires'', which was published in 2000. Homero Cárpena (14 February 1910 – 17 January 2001) was an Argentine film actor born in Mar del Plata. He appeared in 72 films between 1933 and 1972 although the bulk of his work was in the late 1930s and 1940s. Carpegna is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Italian region Marche, located about west of Ancona and about southwest of Pesaro. Carpegna borders the following municipalities: Belforte all'Isauro, Borgo Pace, Frontino, Mercatello sul Metauro, Montecopiolo, Pennabilli, Piandimeleto, Pietrarubbia, Sant'Angelo in Vado, Sestino.
