Carolyn Gilman
Carolyn M. Gilman (born July 17, 1939) is an American politician from Maine. Gilman, a Republican, served in the Maine State Senate from 2002 to 2004, representing her residence in Westbrook, Maine and nearby areas of Cumberland County. She was defeated for re-election in 2004 by Democrat Phil Bartlett after redistricting changed the district. William B. O'Gara (born December 6, 1931) is an American schoolteacher and politician from Maine. O'Gara, a Democrat, served in the Maine State Senate from 1996 to 2002, representing his residence in Westbrook, Maine and nearby areas of Cumberland County. Westbrook College was a liberal arts college in Portland, Maine, founded 1831 as Westbrook Seminary in Westbrook, Maine. It closed in 1996 and merged with the University of New England, which uses its old campus. History In 1831, Westbrook Seminary was established by the Kennebec Association of Universalists in Westbrook, Maine. The original 8- acre property was a gift from Zachariah Stevens, for whom Steven's Plains and Stevens Avenue are named, and Oliver Buckley. The seminary building, now called Alumni Hall, was not finished until 1834, and the first classes were finally held after its completion. The four tracks of study included English, scientific, ladies' classical, and preparatory. Philip Lester Bartlett II (born September 24, 1976) is an American lawyer and politician from Maine. A Democrat, he served in the Maine Senate from 2004 to 2012, representing the 6th district (Scarborough, Westbrook and his hometown of Gorham). In November 2014, Bartlett was elected Chairman of the Maine Democratic Party.
