Carols In The City
Carols in the City (also known as IGA Lord Mayor's Carols in the City), is an annual free Christmas concert event held at Riverstage in Brisbane, Australia. It is currently held on the second Saturday in December. The event is broadcast on the Nine Network across Queensland. History The event was broadcast on the Nine Network from the 1970s until 2010. It was then on Network Ten for 2011 until 2013, returning to Nine in 2014. For a time it was a major supporter of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. It was also run by the City Tabernacle Baptist Church. Riverstage
Riverstage is an outdoor entertainment venue in Brisbane, Australia. The venue occupies a 2 ha site within the City Botanic Gardens and has a capacity of 9,500. The Brisbane Festival makes regularly use of the venue. Riverstage regularly features local, national and international concerts, including large-scale music concerts, as well as family and community events. Concert goers often bring a blanket to sit on. When the site reaches full capacity a live screening area adjacent to the Riverstage may be used. History Riverstage was officially opened on 7 September 1989 by Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Sallyanne Atkinson. It was inspired by the temporary Riverstage used for World Expo '88 a year earlier. Karen Knowles
Karen Knowles (born 4 March 1964) is an Australian singer-songwriter and record producer, and former television personality. Biography 1975-1980s: Early career Knowles was educated in Melbourne at the Methodist Ladies' College. She became nationally famous on the popular television program ''Young Talent Time'', and was a member of the Young Talent Team from 1975 to 1980. Knowles first appeared as a contestant on Young Talent Time in 1974 whilst attending Donvale Primary School east of Melbourne. In 1980, she signed with Fable Records and became the first Australian schoolgirl to receive a Gold record with her Top Ten single "Why Won't You Explain" in 1981. Independent Grocers of Australia (IGA) is an Australian chain of supermarkets. IGA is owned by Metcash, but individual IGA stores are owned independently. Its main competitors are Woolworths, Coles, Spar and Aldi. It is the fourth largest chain, since Aldi overtook Metcash in supermarket revenues. Justice Crew
Justice Crew is an Australian dance and music group consisting of John and Len Pearce, Lukas Bellesini, Paul Merciadez, Samson Smith, and Solo Tohi. Although the group is Australian, members Samson and Solo are from New Zealand. The group originally formed in 2009 as a dance troupe and rose to fame the following year as winners of the fourth season of ''Australia's Got Talent''.
