Caroline Diehl
Caroline Diehl is the founder of The Media Trust, where she was chief executive until 2017. She is also the founder and executive chairman of The Community Channel Ltd, a charitable Community Benefit Society that owns the UK broadcast television channel, Together TV. In 2017 Diehl launched the Social Founder Network – a new global network for founders of charities and social enterprises. Diehl is an Entrepreneur in Residence at INSEAD, an Associate of Newnham College, Cambridge, and is the founder trustee of the Small Charities Coalition. In 2004, she was awarded an MBE for services to the media industry. Education Diehl has an MA Hons. Mod. & Med. Newnham College
Newnham College is a women's constituent college of the University of Cambridge. The college was founded in 1871 by a group organising Lectures for Ladies, members of which included philosopher Henry Sidgwick and suffragist campaigner Millicent Garrett Fawcett. It was the second women's college to be founded at Cambridge, following Girton College. The College is celebrating its 150th anniversary throughout 2021 and 2022. Together TV (formerly The Community Channel) is a British free-to-air television channel owned by The Community Channel, a community benefit society. The channel targets a women's audience aged 40 to 60, with programming related to health and wellness, hobbies, and creativity. The channel was originally launched on 18 September 2000 as The Community Channel with programming focused on promoting volunteerism and charitable organisations. It was initially backed by other British broadcasters who provided resources and other programming to the service. After selling its previous Freeview slot to A&E Networks in 2017, the channel re-launched on Freeview in January 2018 under its current name. BBC Charter
The BBC Charter is a royal charter setting out the arrangements for the governance of the British Broadcasting Corporation. An accompanying agreement recognises its editorial independence and sets out its public obligations in detail. The initial BBC Charter established the BBC on 1 January 1927 as a replacement for the British Broadcasting Company Ltd. which had provided the broadcasting service until that point. As the royal charter created an entirely new body, separate arrangements were made to transfer the assets of the British Broadcasting Company to the new British Broadcasting Corporation via the Postmaster General.
