Caroline Cheptanui Kilel
Caroline Cheptanui Kilel (born 21 March 1981) is a Kenyan Long-distance running, long-distance runner who specializes in road running competitions. She was the winner at the 2011 Boston Marathon and the Frankfurt Marathon in 2010 and 2013. Kilel took the silver medal in the marathon at the Athletics at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2014 Commonwealth Games. She has also won marathons in Ljubljana, Taipei, Nairobi and Palermo. Her personal best for the distance is 2:22:34 set in Frankfurt in 2013, and her best in the half marathon is 1:08:16. Career At the 2003 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, 2003 World Cross Country Championships she finished eighth in the long race, while the Kenyan team, of which Kilel was a part, won the silver medal in the team competition. 2014 Boston Marathon
The 2014 Boston Marathon took place in Boston, Massachusetts, on Monday, April 21 (Patriots' Day). It was the 118th edition of the mass-participation marathon. The race is organized by the Boston Athletic Association. On account of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, extra security measures were implemented. The 2014 Marathon had about 36,000 registered participants, second only to the 1996 race in number of entries. The ''Boston Globe'' reported that over a million people were expected to line the marathon route to watch the race, twice the number who attend during a typical year.
