Carol Hogel
Carol Colburn Grigor, previously Carol Hogel, is an American philanthropist and former concert pianist who has donated more than $40 million by one estimate and £100 million by another to the arts in Britain and Ireland. Carol Grigor was raised in Chicago where she was taught piano and recorder at her school. She studied music at Indiana and Yale Universities. She played in chamber music concerts before marrying her first husband whose work with the United Nations Development Fund took them both to Africa. Her father Richard D. Colburn, an entrepreneur who loved classical music, made a fortune that now ranks the Colburn family as the 193rd richest in the US. It donated to the arts and founded the ''Dunard Fund'', which Colburn Grigor helps to run (the name Dunard is from a house that she and her then husband owned in Aberfeldy, Scotland). Scottish Chamber Orchestra
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) is an Edinburgh-based UK chamber orchestra. One of Scotland's five National Performing Arts Companies, the SCO performs throughout Scotland, including annual tours of the Scottish Highlands and Islands and South of Scotland. The SCO appears regularly at the Edinburgh, East Neuk, St Magnus and Aldeburgh Festivals and The Proms. The SCO's international touring receives support from the Scottish Government. The Old Royal High School, also known as New Parliament House, is a 19th-century neoclassical building on Calton Hill in the city of Edinburgh. The building was constructed for the use of the city's Royal High School, and gained its alternative name as a result of a proposal in the 1970s for it to house a devolved Scottish Assembly.
