Carnivore (Carnivore Album)
''Carnivore'' is the debut studio album by American crossover thrash band Carnivore. It was released in 1985 through Roadrunner Records. The album was first released on CD in 1990 in original form, and again in 1991 without track 5 but with most of the songs from the 1987 ''Retaliation'' album. It was reissued on January 23, 2001, with an addition of three bonus demo tracks and with a different album cover. These songs would be officially recorded later to appear on their next album. Reception In August 2014, '' Revolver'' placed the album on its "14 Thrash Albums You Need to Own" list. Carnivore (band)
Carnivore is an American heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York City. It was founded by singer and bassist Peter Steele out of the breakup of the Brooklyn metal group Fallout in 1983. History Carnivore released their self-titled debut album ''Carnivore'' in November 1985. For this album, the band spelled their names in what they thought were "exotic" ways, Petrus T. Steele and Louie Beateaux. The band often dressed as warriors in torn clothing and spikes attached to hockey gear during their live shows at this period. Keith Alexander left the band in 1986 because he was not interested in the new crossover direction of the band, and was replaced by Marc Piovanetti, who later joined Crumbsuckers. In September 1987, they released their second album, ''Retaliation''. Soon after their second album was released, the band broke up and Peter Steele formed a new band called Repulsion, which would later be renamed Type O Negative. Thrash Metal

Speed metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that originated in the late 1970s from new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) roots.K. Roadrunner Records is an American record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock bands. Founded in the Netherlands in 1980, it is now a division of Warner Music Group and is based in New York City. History The label was launched in 1980 in the Netherlands. Roadrunner's initial business was importing North American metal-band recordings into Europe. Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk (January 4, 1962 – April 14, 2010), known professionally as Peter Steele, was an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist, bassist and composer of the gothic metal band Type O Negative. Before forming Type O Negative, Steele had created the metal group Fallout and the thrash band Carnivore. As the frontman for Type O Negative, Steele was known for his vampiric appearance, stature, rich bass vocals, and a dark, often self-deprecating sense of humor. His lyrics have been described as "often intensely personal, dealing with subjects including love, loss and addiction." Steele credited Black Sabbath and the Beatles as his key musical influences. ''Retaliation'' is the second and final album by American crossover thrash band Carnivore. It was released in 1987 by Roadrunner Records and later released on CD in 1991 without tracks 4 and 9. It was re-issued with a different cover on January 23, 2001, containing three demo tracks from the previous album. The same image was also used (with different editing) by the italian hardcore band Wretched (punk band) for the cover of their EP "In Nome del Loro Potere Tutto è Stato Fatto" released in March 1983. Crossover Thrash
Crossover thrash (often abbreviated to crossover) is a fusion genre of thrash metal and hardcore punk. The genre lies on a continuum between heavy metal and hardcore punk. Other genres on the same continuum, such as metalcore and grindcore, may overlap with crossover thrash. Keith Alexander (guitarist)
Keith Alexander (born Keith Alexander Bonanno; November 23, 1963 – July 11, 2005) was an American guitarist and body modification enthusiast. Career Alexander was the guitarist for the thrash metal band Carnivore, on whose first album he played. He then joined Brooklyn-based band Primal Scream co-writing and recording their 1987 album ''Volume One''. During the late 1990s he was a member of Dee Snider's SMFs and part of the lineup that recorded the 1997 ''Twisted Forever – SMFs Live'' album. Alexander also worked as a talent finder, though he was technically credited as "piercing consultant" on Snider's movie 1998 movie '' Strangeland''. To save money on special effects and for a sense of reality in appearance, Alexander looked in the body modification community for extras, who were modded for some roles.
