Carnival In Rio (Punk Was)
"Carnival in Rio (Punk Was)" is a song by Die Toten Hosen and Ronnie Biggs. It's the lead single and the fifteenth track from the cover album ''Learning English, Lesson One'', being also the only non-cover on the album. The song starts with a spoken intro of a child asking his dad what was punk rock. Ronnie then starts "telling" (singing) him about the punk attitude, which is most importantly about "not giving a fuck". Since Biggs was hiding from the British authorities in Rio de Janeiro at the time, the vocals were recorded there. The b-sides to the single were also recorded with Biggs. Music video The video was directed by Markus Herold. Also the video was made in Rio de Janeiro. It features the band and Biggs singing the song and having fun around the city, also clips of recording the song. Die Toten Hosen (literally "The Dead Trousers", figuratively "The Deadbeats") is a German punk rock band from Düsseldorf. History The current members of Die Toten Hosen are Campino (Andreas Frege), Kuddel (Andreas von Holst), Vom (Stephen Ritchie), Andi (Andreas Meurer) and Breiti (Michael Breitkopf). All members except one are German, though Campino's mother, Jenny, was English. The drummer Vom comes from England. He joined in 1999, after previous drummer Wölli sustained injuries in a car crash. Wölli had played from 1985 to 1999 and was an honorary member of the band until his death in 2016. The drummer until 1985 was Trini Trimpop, who became the band's manager when Wölli joined. ''Baby, Come Back'' is an album by British group The Equals, which was released in the U.S. by RCA Victor, who had obtained the rights to manufacture and distribute the album in all of the Americas from the band's British label, President Records. The record contains tracks culled from their first three UK albums, ''Unequalled Equals'' (1967), ''Explosion'' (1968), and ''Sensational Equals'' (1968). Stephen Philip Jones (born 3 September 1955) is an English guitarist, best known as a member of the rock band Sex Pistols. Following the split of the Sex Pistols, he formed the Professionals with former bandmate Paul Cook.
