Carlson Hill
The Holiday Hills are a series of mostly treeless, loam hills in Spokane County, Washington, in the foothills of the Selkirk Range. The portion of the hills immediately to the east of the adjacent Saltese Flats are known as the Saltese Uplands. History Originally the hills were unnamed, but a resort known as the "Holiday Hills Ski Resort" opened on Carlson Hill in the 1970's, and people began erroneously calling the hill "Holiday Hill". Eventually this name fell out of use, and the name "Holiday Hills" spread to refer to the surrounding hills as a whole. The name soon also spread to local businesses. Despite the resort and many other businesses eventually closing down, the hills retained their name. "Holiday Road" in Spokane Valley and "Holiday Hills Drive" in Liberty Lake are named after the hills. Saltese Uplands
The Saltese Uplands Conservation Area is a 522 acre conservation area in Spokane County in the U.S. state of Washington. The conservation area covers the Saltese Uplands, which are situated on the western slope of the Holiday Hills, immediately to the east of the adjacent Saltese Flats. The area is open to the public and contains of trails. Selkirk Range
The Selkirk Mountains are a mountain range spanning the northern portion of the Idaho Panhandle, eastern Washington, and southeastern British Columbia which are part of a larger grouping of mountains, the Columbia Mountains. They begin at Mica Peak and Krell Hill near Spokane and extend approximately 320 km north (200 miles) from the border to Kinbasket Lake, at the now-inundated location of the onetime fur company post Boat Encampment. The range is bounded on its west, northeast and at its northern extremity by the Columbia River, or the reservoir lakes now filling most of that river's course.
