Carlow Senior Hurling Team
The Carlow county hurling team represents Carlow in hurling and is governed by Carlow GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the Joe McDonagh Cup and the National Hurling League. Carlow's home ground is Dr Cullen Park, Carlow. The team's manager is Tom Mullally. The team has never won the Leinster Senior Championship, the All-Ireland Senior Championship or the National League. History Carlow have won three Christy Ring Championships. After losing the 2006 final to Antrim at Croke Park, they beat Westmeath in a classic final (after extra time) by 3–22 to 4–16 in 2008. This was their first "Division 2" win since 1992 and their first in the re-arranged All-Ireland structure which saw four divisions in hurling from 2009. County Carlow ( ; ga, Contae Cheatharlach) is a county located in the South-East Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. Carlow is the second smallest and the third least populous of Ireland's 32 traditional counties. Carlow County Council is the governing local authority. Kilkenny GAA
The Kilkenny County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (Kilkenny GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Cill Chainnigh) is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kilkenny. All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling Intermediate All-Ireland Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Effectively contested by the second string teams of the top inter-county hurling sides in Ireland, the tournament has taken place every year since 1997—having originally been run between 1961 and 1973. The final, currently held in July, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the early summer, and the results determine which team receives the Michael Cusack Cup. 2018 Joe McDonagh Cup
The 2018 Joe McDonagh Cup was the inaugural staging of the Joe McDonagh Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The fixtures were announced on 13 April 2018. The competition began on 5 May 2018. On 1 July 2018, Carlow won the title following a 2-26 to 1-24 defeat of Westmeath in the final. This was their second successive promotion within the various tiers of hurling, as they were also the 2017 Christy Ring Cup champions. Meath were relegated from the Joe McDonagh Cup after losing all of their group stage games. Antrim's Neil McManus was the competition's top scorer with 3-67. Martin Kavanagh (hurler)
Martin Kavanagh (born 1994) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a right corner-forward for the Carlow senior team. Born in Bahana, County Carlow, Kavanagh first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Borris Vocational School. He arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Carlow minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He was part of the famous Carlow team that won the Joe McDonagh cup in 2023 He made his senior debut during the 2012 championship. All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship
The All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship was an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association between 1974 and 2004 for the so-called 'weaker' hurling teams in Ireland. The teams now play in the Joe McDonagh Cup (Tier 2 of the All Ireland Championship). The series of games began every year immediately after the completion of the National Hurling League with the All-Ireland final being played in June or July, initially in Croke Park, Dublin but later in provincial venues around the country and in United Kingdom, Britain. The championship was open to all hurling teams who did not take part in the proper All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. The Wexford county hurling team represents Wexford in hurling and is governed by Wexford GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League. Johnny Nevin is a former dual player from County Carlow, Ireland. He played Gaelic football and hurling with Carlow between the late 1980s and the 2000s. Paddy Mullally (born 1976 in Glenmore, Kilkenny) is an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Glenmore and was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1999 until 2004. As of 2010, he was part of the Glenmore management team with responsibility for under-21 hurling. His brother Tom is a manager.
