Carlos San Martín
Carlos Andres San Martín (born 19 November 1993) is a Colombian track and field athlete who competes as a steeplechaser. Career San Martín competed in the 3000m steeplechase at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, running 8:35.10. He also competed at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru running a time of 8:32.34 to claim the silver medal in the Men's 3000 metres steeplechase behind Altobeli da Silva of Brazil. He won the 3000m steeplechase at the 2019 South American Championships in Athletics, and was runner up in 2021. Prior to that he won bronze in the 1500m in 2017. 2019 World Athletics Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. It was held between 27 September and 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar, at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium, but reduced to 21,000 available seats. 1,772 athletes from 206 teams competed in 49 athletics events over the ten-day competition, comprising 24 events each for men and women, plus a mixed relay. The men's 3000 metres steeplechase event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 30 July and 2 August 2021 at the Japan National Stadium. 45 athletes competed. Summary Kenya had won this event every time it participated in the Olympics since 1968, 11 times, 9 times in a row after boycotting 1976 and 1980. The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile". Altobeli Santos da Silva (born 3 December 1990) is a Brazilian distance runner. He finished ninth in the 3000 m steeplechase at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2017, he competed in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2017 World Athletics Championships held in London, United Kingdom. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Da Silva was named after the Italian football striker Alessandro Altobelli. In his early years he earned money by delivering leaflets for a local supermarket.
