Carlos Romero López
Carlos Romero (Madrid, 1946) is a Spanish academic who specializes in the field of economic optimization chiefly by using multi-criteria programming methods, concretely goal programming methods. In 2006, the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making awarded him the Georg Cantor Medal. Career Romero was born in Madrid. He has a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences, an MS in agricultural engineering and a PhD in agricultural economics, all of them from the Technical University of Madrid, and an MS in statistics and operational research bestowed by the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. He is currently a professor of economics at the Technical University of Madrid. He was formerly professor of agricultural economics at University of Córdoba (Spain). The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) was an academic publishing service, founded by Eugene Garfield in Philadelphia in 1956. ISI offered scientometric and bibliographic database services. Its specialty was citation indexing and analysis, a field pioneered by Garfield. Services ISI maintained citation databases covering thousands of academic journals, including a continuation of its longtime print-based indexing service the Science Citation Index (SCI), as well as the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI). All of these were available via ISI's Web of Knowledge database service. This database allows a researcher to identify which articles have been cited most frequently, and who has cited them. The database provides some measure of the academic impact of the papers indexed in it, and may increase their impact by making them more visible and providing them with a quality label.
