Carlos Magalhães De Azeredo
Carlos Magalhães de Azeredo (September 7, 1872 – November 4, 1963) was a Brazilian poet, short story writer, diplomat and journalist. He founded and occupied the 9th chair of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, from 1897 until his death in 1963, thus being the academic that occupied his chair for the longest time (66 years) and the youngest founder of the Academy (he was 25 years old at the time). Life Azeredo was born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1872, to Caetano Pinto de Azeredo (who died three months after Carlos' birth) and Leopoldina Magalhães de Azeredo. Since as a young man, Azeredo would write – when he was 12 years old he wrote a poetry book named ''Inspirações da Infância'', that was never published, and with 17 years old he started to trade letters with Machado de Assis and Mário de Alencar. Pedro Weingärtner
Pedro Weingärtner (26 July 1853 – 26 December 1929) was an important Academic painter of Brazil, and the first artist born in Rio Grande do Sul to win international praise for his work. Biography Born in Porto Alegre, to a family of German immigrants, he began his artistic career as an amateur, helped by his brother Inácio, who was a lithographer, and possibly also by the painter Delfim da Câmara. In 1878 he moved to Germany in order to study in the Grossherzoglich Badische Kunstschule, in Karlsruhe. There he became a pupil of Ferdinand Keller, Theodor Poeckh and Ernst Hildebrand. In 1880 Keller moved to Berlin, being followed by Weingärtner, who then enrolled in the local Academy. In 1882 he left Germany for France, studying in the Académie Julian under Tony Robert-Fleury and William-Adolphe Bouguereau. Itamar Franco
Itamar Augusto Cautiero Franco (; 28 June 19302 July 2011) was a Brazilian politician who served as the 33rd president of Brazil from 29 December 1992 to 31 December 1994. Previously, he was the 21st vice president of Brazil from 1990 until the resignation of President Fernando Collor de Mello. During his long political career Franco also served as Senator, Mayor, Ambassador and Governor. At the time of his death he was a senator from Minas Gerais, having won the seat in the 2010 election. Early life and family background Franco was born prematurely at sea, aboard a ship traveling between Salvador and Rio de Janeiro, being registered in Salvador. Marques Rebelo
Marques Rebelo, pseudonym of Edy Dias da Cruz (6 January 1907 — 26 August 1973), was a Brazilian writer associated to the Modernist movement. Life Edy Dias da Cruz was born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1907. He spent his childhood in Barbacena, in the state of Minas Gerais. There he studied and became an avid reader. He returned to Rio in 1918, to finish his secondary education. He later studied Medicine but did not finish the course, later working as a salesman. Adopting the pen name Marques Rebelo, he started submitting poems and short stories for magazines. In 1931 he published his first book, ''Oscarina'', a short story collection. The book was praised by the critics at the time. Rebelo worked for several newspapers and magazines and wrote a number of books, among them novels, short stories, and children's books.
