2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship
The 2017 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship was the 5th edition of the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship (18th edition if all eras included), the men's under-17 international football tournament organized by CONCACAF. It was hosted in Panama between 21 April and 7 May 2017. The competition was used to determine the four CONCACAF representatives at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India. Qualified teams The qualifying competition for the tournament began in July 2016. Note: no titles or runners-up between 1999 and 2007. All previous appearances of Curaçao as the former Netherlands Antilles. Bold indicates that the corresponding team was hosting the event. The Mexico national football team () represents Mexico in international football and is governed by the Mexican Football Federation (). It competes as a member of CONCACAF. Mexico has qualified to seventeen World Cups and has qualified consecutively since 1994, making it one of six countries to do so. Mexico played France in the first match of the first World Cup on 13 July 1930. Mexico's best progression in World Cups has been reaching the quarter-finals in both the 1970 and 1986 World Cups, both of which were staged on Mexican soil. The CONCACAF U-17 Championship is an international association football event in the North America, Central America and the Caribbean region, and is the qualification tournament for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Results In 2009 the tournament returned to a championship format in which all four semifinalists qualify to the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The 2009 tournament was cut short due to the swine flu outbreak in Mexico. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders.
