Carlos Grangel
Carlos Grangel (born 1963 in Barcelona) is a Spanish-born character designer for animated films. Career He started out as a comic book artist, drawing Fix und Foxi for the German market from the mid-80s to 1994 and Disney comics ( Brer Rabbit) for the Dutch market in 1994/95. Afterwards he moved to DreamWorks Animation, where his credits include '' The Road to El Dorado'' (2000), '' Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron'' (2002), '' Shark Tale'' (2004) and '' Madagascar'' (2005). Till Eulenspiegel (; nds, Dyl Ulenspegel ) is the protagonist of a German chapbook published in 1515 (a first edition of ca. 1510/12 is preserved fragmentarily) with a possible background in earlier Middle Low German folklore. Eulenspiegel is a native of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg whose picaresque career takes him to many places throughout the Holy Roman Empire. He plays practical jokes on his contemporaries, at every turn exposing vices. His life is set in the first half of the 14th century, and the final chapters of the chapbook describe his death from the plague of 1350. Eulenspiegel's surname translates to "owl-mirror"; and the frontispiece of the 1515 chapbook, as well as his alleged tombstone in Mölln, Schleswig-Holstein, render it as a rebus comprising an owl and a hand mirror. ''Periwig Maker'' is a 1999 British-German short stop motion animation film. 15 minutes long, it is based on Daniel Defoe's novel '' A Journal of the Plague Year'' (1722). The film was produced by Ideal Standard film, directed by Steffen Schäffler and narrated by Kenneth Branagh. Plot The film is set in London in 1665, during the Great Plague. The protagonist is a wig maker who locks himself in his shop, isolating himself from society so that he will not contract the plague. He watches from inside his shop as the plague ravages the city, taking the lives of the majority of the citizens.
