Carlos Amarel Ferreira (born 28 November 1966 in Porto, Portugal) is a Paralympic track and field athlete from Portugal competing mainly in category T10/T11, visually-impaired, long-distance running events. He competed in the 1992 Summer Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain. There he won a silver medal in the men's Football 7-a-side event. At the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, United States, he changed sports to compete in athletics. There he finished sixth in the men's 5000 metres T10 event and won a bronze medal in the men's 10000 metres T10 event. He also competed at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia, winning a gold medal in the men's Marathon T11 event and a silver medal in the men's 10000 metres T11 event. Carlos Vaz Ferreira (October 15, 1872 – January 3, 1958) was a Uruguayan philosopher, lawyer, writer, and academic. Influenced by John Stuart Mill and Herbert Spencer, he is notable for introducing liberal, pluralistic political values and pragmatic philosophical concepts to South American society. Life Vaz Ferreira was born in Montevideo. His younger sister was the poet María Eugenia Vaz Ferreira. His first published work, in 1897, was "Curso expositivo de Psicología elemental" ("Lecture Course on Elemental Psychology"). The same year, he began lecturing in philosophy at the University of the Republic. His second work, published in 1898, was a book on formal logic. In 1903 he was licensed as an attorney. In 1905 he published "Ideas y Observaciones" ("Ideas and Observations"), a collection of both new and previously published works. Carlos Diego Ferreira (born January 18, 1985) is a Brazilian mixed martial artist, currently competing in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the former Legacy FC lightweight champion, and vacated the championship in May 2014 to sign with UFC. Mixed martial arts career Born in Careiro da Várzea, Amazonas, Brazil, Ferreira grew up playing soccer, and his first martial art was capoeira. Carlos Ferreira De La Torre
Carlos Ferreira de la Torre (1914–1990) was a Spanish sculptor. Ferreira was born in Madrid and spent his childhood in Tarragona, Madrid, Getafe, Corunna and Toledo, finally settling in Madrid in 1934. He did not complete his studies in fine art or the physical sciences. In 1948, with financial assistance from the French government, he went to Paris, and in 1951 he returned to Spain, with a grant from the Spanish Commission for Cultural Relations. In 1951 he had shows in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao together with Ferrant, Jorge Oteiza and Serra. His work is scattered all over Spain, especially in Madrid, in the open air and in private collections. He has twice taken part in the Venice Biennale (1950 and 1956). In Barcelona, in addition to ''Maternitat'' ("Maternity"), he has a relief measuring 1.75 x 1.20 metres (5' 8" x 3' 11") in a branch of the Banco Guipuzcoano, executed in 1959.
