Carlos Fernández Liria
Carlos Fernández Liria (born 1959) is a Spanish philosopher and lecturer at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). Biography He was born in 1959 in Zaragoza. Fernández Liria, who started his teaching experience as professor of secondary education, also worked as TV writer alongside fellow philosopher Santiago Alba in the 1980s, developing the scripts for the cult children's show ''La Bola de Cristal''. Following the earning of a PhD in philosophy at the UCM, reading a dissertation about Jean-Paul Sartre in 1987 titled ''Una ontología positiva. Ensayo a partir de “El ser y la nada” de Sartre'' supervised by Sergio Rábade Romeo (initiated under the supervision of Gabriel Albiac), he became a senior lecturer at the former university in 1989. He has been the doctoral supervisor of, among others, César Rendueles and Luis Alegre. He is the father of Eduardo Fernández Rubiño, politician and activist. Podemos (Spanish Political Party)
Podemos (, translated in English as "We Can"), * ca, Podem, * gl, Podemos, is a left-wing populist political party in Spain. Part of the anti-austerity movement in Spain, it was founded in January 2014 by political scientist Pablo Iglesias Turrión and other academics in the aftermath of the 15-M Movement protests against inequality and corruption. In the 2014 European Parliament election in Spain, Podemos won 8.0% of the vote and five seats. The newly founded party's big impact received significant media attention, having defied the odds and polls, while major parties lost out. By October 2014, Podemos was the second largest political party in Spain by number of members after the People's Party. On 9 May 2016, Podemos formed the Unidos Podemos electoral alliance with the United Left, Equo, and regionalist left-wing parties.
