Carlos Cadena Gaitan
Carlos Cadena Gaitan (born June 6, 1983, Medellin, Colombia) is a multi-award-winning sustainability expert, professor, research and urban activist. Cadena Gaitan holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, and is an affiliated researcher with the United Nations University (UNU-MERIT). He has served as Transport Commissioner of Medellín, Colombia and is a full-member of the State of Antioquia Scientific Committee for the Climate Crisis. Cadena Gaitán served as the general coordinator for the 4th World Bike Forum, held in Medellín, Colombia, from February 26 to March 1, 2015. With over 7000 participants, this forum broke attendance records, becoming the world's largest urban cycling conference. The (UNU) is the think tank and academic arm of the United Nations. World Bike Forum
The World Bike Forum (WBF), (FMB), is a yearly cycling activism event in which the topics of bicycle mobility, bicycle urban mobility and the planning of cities made by and for the people are discussed. According to its creators the WBF began as an answer to an automobile driver deliberately colliding with around 20 cyclists that were participating in a Critical Mass (cycling), Critical Mass event in Porto Alegre on February 25, 2011 (see Conflicts involving Critical Mass#Porto Alegre.2C Brazil, Conflicts involving Critical Mass). Carlos Cadena
Carlos C. Cadena (1917–2001) was an American lawyer, civil rights activist and judge based in San Antonio, Texas. Carlos Cristian Cadena, who was the son of Mexican immigrants, was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1917 and attended Catholic school. He earned his LL.B. degree from the University of Texas Law School in 1940, serving as editor of the ''Texas Law Review'' and graduating summa cum laude. Cadena's long legal career was interrupted only by a term as a radio operator in the US Army Air Forces during World War II. In his early years he worked as assistant city attorney (and later city attorney) for San Antonio, was partner in a law firm, and also taught constitutional law at St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
