Carlos Alfredo Peyrellade
Carlos Alfredo Peyrellade Zaldivar (1840-1908) was a Cuban classical pianist and music educator. He is best known as founder of the Carlos Alfredo Peyrellade Conservatory of music in Havana, Cuba. Early years Peyrellade was born in Puerto Príncipe into a musical family. His brothers Emilio, Eduardo (1846-1830) and Federico were also musicians. His father had been a French consul in Puerto Príncipe. Carlos studied music with Nicolás Ruiz Espadero in Cuba, and his father sent him to continue his studies in Paris with Camille Marie Stamaty and Pierre Maleden. He made his debut at the Salle Pleyel Salón Saint Germain and Salón Beethoven with Belgian flautist Delphin Allard, and afterward he conducted a career as a concert pianist in Europe. Career Peyrellade served as accompanist for the Círculo de la Unión Artística de París and replaced Louis Moreau Gottschalk in New York as professor at the piano academy. Camagüey
Camagüey () is a city and municipality in central Cuba and is the nation's third-largest city with more than 321,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Camagüey Province. It was founded as Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe in 1514, by Spanish colonists on the northern coast and moved inland in 1528, to the site of a Taino village named Camagüey. It was one of the seven original settlements (''villas'') founded in Cuba by the Spanish. After Henry Morgan burned the city in the 17th century, it was redesigned like a maze so attackers would find it hard to move around inside the city. The symbol of the city of Camagüey is the clayen pot or ''tinajón'', used to capture rain water and keep it fresh. Camagüey is also the birthplace of Ignacio Agramonte (1841), an important figure of the Ten Years' War against Spain. Josie Pujol
Josie Pujol (born around 1900) was a Cuban violinist who performed in Cuba, Canada, and the United States as a young woman. Early life Josephine "Josie" Pujol played violin from youth. She finished her studies at the Conservatorio Peyrellade in Havana in 1916, with further studies in New York. Her sisters Clotilde and Teresa were also musicians. Career Josephine Pujol played violin as a church accompanist in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in 1918. She played violin solos at concerts in Asbury Park in 1919. In 1920 Pujol earned good reviews in Havana for her recitals with soprano Marguerite Ringo. Dulce Beatriz
Dulce Beatriz (née Dulce Hernández Moreno de Ayala, 17 March 1931 – 19 October 2021) was a Cuban-born artist known for her Impressionism, Impressionist-style paintings. Life and career Dulce Beatriz was born in Havana on 17 March 1931, to a family of Spanish descent. Her father, José María Hernández, managed a bakery. Her mother, Dulce Moreno Ayala, was a teacher. She initially studied to be a teacher, graduating from the Escuela de Maestros de Kindergarten (Kindergarten Teacher's School) in Havana in 1949, followed by studies in music pedagogy at the Carlos Alfredo Peyrellade Conservatory of music in Havana. During that time she also exhibited her art work at the Havana City Hall's Hall of Mirrors.
