Carlo di Giovanni Rossi (''Karl Ivanovich Rossi''; russian: Карл Иванович Росси; – ) was an Italian architect who worked in Imperial Russia. He was the author of many classical buildings and architectural ensembles in Saint Petersburg and its environs. Biography Carlo Rossi was born in Naples (his stepfather was the famous ballet artist Charles le Picq) and was brought to Russia in his childhood when his mother Guertroude Rossi-Le Picq, a well-known ballerina, was invited into Russia to perform. From youth he was connected with the world of the arts. He trained in the studio of architect Vincenzo Brenna. In 1795 he entered the service of the admiralty board of architecture; as the assistant to Brenna, together with whom, it is assumed, he participated in the construction of Saint Michael's Castle in Saint Petersburg. Carlo Rossi (August 8, 1925 – April 11, 1998) was a Canadian politician. Born in Montreal, Quebec, the son of Italian immigrants, Rossi joined the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal in 1948. He was a police detective and the head of the Police's hostage-negotiation team. In 1979, he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the Montreal riding of Bourassa. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1980 and 1984. Carlo Rossi (27 November 1920 – 16 May 1989) was an Italian lyricist and record producer. Born in Rome, Rossi started his career as a writer of humorous poems and short stories. He entered the music industry as the lyricist of the songs composed by Edoardo Vianello, many of which became classics in Italy. He also wrote songs for other singers, including Rita Pavone, Massimo Ranieri, Paul Anka and Alunni del Sole. Carlo Rossi (Celenza Valfortore, 29 December 1880 – Turin, 21 April 1967) was an Italian general during World War II. Biography Early years Born in Celenza Valfortore in 1880, the son of Michelangelo Rossi and Agnese Maria Luigia Fantetti, he attended the Military Academy of Modena and was commissioned in Parma on 22 October 1905. From December 1909 he was a lieutenant in the 8th Alpini Regiment. On 29 September 1912 he sailed from Naples for Libya, where the Italo-Turkish War was coming to an end, but fierce guerrilla war was being waged by the local population. He was aide to the commander of the 1st Company of the 8th Alpini Regiment, under the command of Colonel Antonio Cantore; he distinguished himself in the fighting in Libya, for which he received a Silver Medal of Military Valor. He was wounded in the left arm in a skirmish that took place on the night between 20 and 21 March 1913, and on 18 June of the same year he earned a second silver medal for his behavior ...
