Carlo Capece Galeota
Don Carlo Capece Galeota (17 February 1824 – 14 August 1908) was an Italian nobleman, holding the titles of Duke of Regina and Duke of Sant'Angelo a Fasanella from the death of his father Francesco Capece Galeota in 1838 to his own death in 1908. From 1889 onwards, Carlo was also recognized as the heir to the extinct Tocco family (extinct in 1884), as he was a matrilineal descendant of the family, assuming their titles of Prince of Montemiletto and titular Prince of Achaea, among others. Biography Carlo Capece Galeota was born in Naples on 17 February 1824. He was the son of Francesco Capece Galeota, Duke of Regina and Duke of Sant'Angelo a Fasanella, and Maria Maddalena di Tocco Cantelmo Stuart. Upon his father Francesco's death on 5 May 1838, Carlo inherited his titles. Carlo II Di Tocco Cantelmo Stuart
Don Carlo II di Tocco Cantelmo Stuart (7 March 1756 – 19 July 1823), or Carlo di Tocco for short, was an 18th/19th-century Italian noble, serving as the Prince of Montemiletto and the titular Prince of Achaea, among other titles, from the death of his father Restaino di Tocco Cantelmo Stuart in 1796 to his own death in 1823. In addition to holding various fiefs throughout Italy, Carlo also rose to prominent positions within the Kingdom of Naples and its successor state, the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. In 1808, he came one of the earliest knights of the Royal Order of the Two-Sicilies and from 1821 to 1823, he served as a Councellor of State in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Popoli is a ''comune'' and town in the province of Pescara in the Abruzzo region of Italy. History Though the site has not revealed significant Roman presence it appears in a ninth-century document as ''borgo di Pagus Fabianus''. Its name in medieval Latin was Castrum Properi ("Waystation Fortress"), which name was recorded as early as 1016 as the property of Girardo, son of Roccone. The castle above the town was built between 1000 and 1015 for Tidolfo, Bishop of Valva. In 1269 the Angevin ruler Charles I of Naples granted Popoli as a fief in the Cantelmo family, who held it, with its ducal title, until 1749. Prince Of Achaea
The Prince of Achaea was the ruler of the Principality of Achaea, one of the crusader states founded in Greece in the aftermath of the Fourth Crusade (1202–1204). Though more or less autonomous, the principality was never a fully independent state, initially being a vassal state subservient of the Latin Empire of Constantinople, which had supplanted the Byzantine Empire, and later of the Angevin Kingdom of Naples. During the Angevin period, the princes were often absent, being represented in the Principality by their '' baillis'', who governed in their name. The principality was one of the longest-lasting of the Latin states in Greece, outliving the Latin Empire itself by 171 years. It did not come to an end until 1432, when the Byzantine prince Thomas Palaiologos inherited the last remnants of the Principality through marriage to the daughter of the last prince, Centurione Zaccaria.
