Carlo Brioschi (sculptor)
Carlo Brioschi (24 June 1826 – 12 November 1895) was a painter and scenic designer, born in Milan, Italy, but mostly active in Austria. Biography Carlo was the son of the scenic designer Giuseppe Brioschi (died in Vienna in 1856) and father of the similarly engaged Othmar Brioschi, Othmar (1854–1912) and Anton Brioschi, Anton (1855–1920). He was a student of Leopold Kupelwieser, Thomas Ender, and Franz Steinfeld at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. In 1853, he worked in Paris. From 1856 to 1886, he worked with the Vienna State Opera. With Johann Kautsky and Hermann Burghart he established the cooperative enterprise of "Brioschi, Burghart und Kautsky, k.u.k. Hoftheatermaler in Wien", which employed dozens of carpenters, blacksmiths, mechanics and clerks in addition to their painters; among whom were Georg Janny, , Ferdinand Brunner and Alfons Mucha. Hermann Burghart (7 April 1834, Türmitz – 23 January 1901, Vienna) was a Bohemian-born Austrian scenic designer and set decorator The set decorator is the head of the set decoration department in the film and television industry, responsible for selecting, designing, fabricating, and sourcing the " set dressing" elements of each set in a Feature Film, Television, or New Media .... Metropolitan Opera
The Metropolitan Opera (commonly known as the Met) is an American opera company based in New York City, resident at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, currently situated on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The company is operated by the non-profit Metropolitan Opera Association, with Peter Gelb as general manager. As of 2018, the company's current music director is Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The Met was founded in 1883 as an alternative to the previously established Academy of Music opera house, and debuted the same year in a new building on 39th and Broadway (now known as the "Old Met"). Alfons Mucha
Alfons Maria Mucha (; 24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist, living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, best known for his distinctly stylized and decorative theatrical posters, particularly those of Sarah Bernhardt. He produced illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels, as well as designs, which became among the best-known images of the period. In the second part of his career, at the age of 57, he returned to his homeland and devoted himself to a series of twenty monumental canvases known as '' The Slav Epic'', depicting the history of all the Slavic peoples of the world, which he painted between 1912 and 1926. Ferdinand Brunner
Ferdinand Brunner (1 May 1870, Vienna – 30 November 1945, Vienna) was an Austrian landscape painter. Life and work At the age of fourteen, he was apprenticed to the court theatre painters, Carlo Brioschi, Hermann Burghart and Johann Kautsky. After 1891, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, in the master class of Eduard von Lichtenfels. He was awarded the Academy's Gundel-Prize for excellence in 1894 and became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1901. His major exhibitions include the International Art and Horticulture Exhibition (1904) and the German National Art Exhibition (1907), both in Düsseldorf, as well as several showings at the Glaspalast in Munich. In 1910, he received the Großen Goldenen Staatsmedaille. Rural scenes in Lower Austria, Bohemia and Hungary were his favorite motifs.
