Carlo Blasis
Carlo Blasis (4 November 1797 – 15 January 1878) was an Italian dancer, choreographer and dance theoretician born in Naples. He is well known for his very rigorous dance classes, sometimes lasting four hours long. He danced in France, Italy, London and Russia. Blasis insisted that his students learn theories and definitions of dance steps. He trained all of Enrico Cecchetti's teachers and it is thought that Blasis's influence in his training is what led Cecchetti to create the Cecchetti method of ballet. Work He published an analysis of the ballet techniques in 1820, in a work named ''Traité élémentaire, théorique, et pratique de l'art de la danse'' ("Elementary, Theoretical, and Practical Treatise on the Art of the Dance"). Marietta Baderna
Marietta Baderna Giannini or Maria Baderna was an Italian ballerina, born in 1828, died c. 1892. At age 16 she was the principal dancer at La Scala in Milan, when the unusual lithograph of her, surrounded by 16 poses, was published. She appeared in Drury Lane, when Carlo Blasis was guest choreographer there. On her first appearance there, in a new ballet ''The Pretty Sicilian'' in 1847, one reviewer saw room for improvement:"In form she is ''petite'', her features are most expressive and pleasing. She wears her hair in the most trying of all fashions-- the Chinese, but, withal, looks sweetly pretty; as candid critics we are bound to say there was nothing astonishing in her execution - it wanted that neatness which her predecessor, Fuoco, so eminently possessed. Cernobbio ( Comasco: ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Como, Lombardy, northern Italy. It is located about north of Milan and about northwest of Como, on the border with Switzerland and near the Lake Como. The highest peak is the Monte Bisbino, at . Flora Fabbri
Flora Fabbri was a 19th-century Italian ballet dancer. She was trained by Carlo Blasis, and was one of his 'Les Pleiades', being the first among those to become internationally famous. Fabbri danced to acclaim in Italy and Paris, before her London debut at Drury Lane Theatre in 1845, dancing as Mazourka in the ballet ''The Devil to Pay''. One critic wrote "Drury Lane Theatre opened for the season... with a ballet of no particular merit, but worthy of notice for the excellent dancing of Mademoiselle Flora Fabbri. This young lady has more than confirmed the favourable impression of last season. Her manner is at once refined and spirited, singularly graceful and yet always joyous, and impulsive." Of Fabbri's dancing, Blasis said "light, bounding, aerial, and fanciful in every motion." Fabbri danced at the Paris Opera during 1845 to 1851, and also toured in Italy and Germany.
