Alex Carleton is an American fashion and home-goods designer. He is the founder of Rogues Gallery and was the creative director of an L.L.Bean capsule brand, L.L.Bean Signature. He is currently creative director of Filson (company), Filson. Early life Carleton grew up on Cape Cod and attended the Cambridge School of Weston, Cambridge School in Weston, Massachusetts, as well as Sarah Lawrence College. Career After working for a short time in a Boston furniture repair shop, Carleton began his design career in New York at Polo Ralph Lauren where he was a senior designer. He did design and branding for Abercrombie and Fitch, Abercrombie & Fitch. He moved to Maine in 1999. Carleton started Rogues Gallery in 2003 as a side project while he was working for L.L.Bean. Henry Boyle, 1st Baron Carleton
Henry Boyle, 1st Baron Carleton, (12 July 1669 – 31 March 1725) was an Anglo-Irish Whig politician who sat in the Irish House of Commons from 1692 to 1695 and in the English and British House of Commons between 1689 and 1710. He served as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Secretary of State, and after he was raised to the peerage as Baron Carleton, served as Lord President of the council. Biography Boyle was the son of Charles Boyle, 3rd Viscount Dungarvan, and his first wife Lady Jane Seymour, daughter of William Seymour. He was educated at Westminster School and travelled abroad from 1685 to 1688, attending Padua University in 1685. He entered the army under the auspices of his uncle, the Tory politician Lord Rochester. However, Boyle himself became a Whig, and in 1688 deserted the army of James II in favour of the Prince of Orange. Peter Carleton (September 19, 1755 – April 29, 1828) was an American politician, a farmer, and a United States representative from New Hampshire. Early life Born in Haverhill in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, Carleton attended the public schools and engaged in agricultural pursuits. During the American Revolutionary War, he enlisted in January 1777 in Massachusetts, and served under Capt. John Blanchard and Col. James Wesson. He held the rank of Sergeant Major and served until December 31, 1779, when he was discharged at West Point, New York. During his service, he was in the battles of Bemis Heights and Stillwater. Career Carleton moved to Landaff, Grafton County, New Hampshire, about 1789. He was a member of the New Hampshire constitutional convention in 1790. In 1803 the Coos Bank of Haverhill was chartered. Mary Carleton (born ''Mary Moders''; 11 August 1642 – 22 January 1673) was an Englishwoman who used false identities, such as a German princess, to marry and defraud a number of men. Early life Born Mary Moders in Canterbury. According to later accounts she married a journeyman shoemaker named Thomas Stedman and gave birth to two children who died in infancy. She later left her husband to move to Dover where she married a surgeon by the name of Thomas Day, prompting her arrest and trial in Maidstone for bigamy. After the trial she visited Cologne where she had a brief affair with a local nobleman. He gave her valuable presents, pressed her for marriage and began the preparations for a wedding.
