Carles Buïgas
Carles Buïgas i Sans (18 January 1898 in Barcelona – 27 August 1979 in Cerdanyola del Vallès) was a Catalan architect, engineer, inventor and author. Biography Buïgas was born into an educated family in Barcelona, son of the architect Gaietà Buïgas. When he was seven, his family moved to Montevideo (Uruguay) but returned to Barcelona in 1910. In 1916, he entered the School of Industrial Engineers of Barcelona; he did not graduate as he started to work as an assistant for the Exhibition of Electrical Industries of Barcelona. Later he continued to study at the ''École de Civil Génie'' of Paris. In 1922 Buïgas designed his first project with illuminated water fountains for the Royal Palace of Pedralbes. Eugenio d'Ors described his work as a new style of art, the art of ''agualuz''. His most famous work is the Magic Fountain of Montjuic, created for the International Exposition in Barcelona in 1929. A torpedo bomber is a military aircraft designed primarily to attack ships with aerial torpedoes. Torpedo bombers came into existence just before the First World War almost as soon as aircraft were built that were capable of carrying the weight of a torpedo, and remained an important aircraft type until they were rendered obsolete by anti-ship missiles. The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, shortened as the Sagrada Família, is an unfinished church in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The Port Vell Aerial Tramway ( ca, Telefèric del Port or Aeri del Port, es, Teleférico del Puerto) is an aerial tramway in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
