Carla Nelson
Carla J. Nelson (born May 22, 1957) is an American politician from Minnesota who is a member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, she currently represents District 24, which includes parts of Olmsted County and Dodge County in the southeastern part of the state. Much of southern half of Rochester and parts of northwestern Rochester are included in her district. In 2018, Nelson was an unsuccessful candidate in the Republican primary to represent Minnesota's 1st congressional district. Early life, education, and career Nelson graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, receiving her B.S. in special education. She then attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, earning her M.Ed. in teacher leadership and her reading specialist certification. Ann Lynch
Ann Lynch (born December 27, 1964) is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 30, which includes portions of Olmsted and Wabasha counties in the southeastern part of the state. As a Democrat, she was first elected to the Senate in 2006, but was unseated by Republican Carla Nelson in the 2010 general election. Lynch was a member of the Senate's Capital Investment Committee, the Health, Housing and Family Security Committee, and the Higher Education Committee. Timothy James Walz ( ; born April 6, 1964) is an American politician and retired educator. A member of the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he has served as the 41st governor of Minnesota since 2019. Born in West Point, Nebraska, Walz was a member of the Army National Guard, and was a temporary teacher on a reservation in South Dakota after high school. He later graduated from Chadron State College and Minnesota State University, Mankato. He moved to Minnesota in 1996.
