Carl Van Horn
Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn was a Modified driver from Phillipsburg, New Jersey. He drove several cars including his own 71E and later the 2A. Racing career In his prime, he was one of the most successful dirt track drivers and drove in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series at Pocono Raceway in 1975. Van Horn was inducted in the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Eastern Press Motorsports Association in 2009. Van Horn died on July 17, 2017. The Goodyear 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series race held at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina. A race was held in May at the track in 1952, however the event did not become a regular one on the NASCAR schedule until 1957, as a race in the Convertible Division, then known as the Rebel 300. The YellaWood 500 is a NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama, hosting an event in the NASCAR playoffs. The race is one of four NASCAR Cup Series races currently run with tapered spacers, the others being the GEICO 500 in May, the Coke Zero Sugar 400, and the Daytona 500. Through 1996, this race was normally held in early August or late July. In 1997, it was moved to early October due to the uncomfortably hot summer temperatures, and sometimes unpredictable summertime thunderstorms in the Alabama area. The Unannounced Sponsor Pocono Cup race is a NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 is an annual NASCAR Cup Series stock car race at Daytona International Speedway. The 1975 World 600, the 16th running of the event, was a NASCAR Winston Cup Series racing event that took place on May 25, 1975, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Race report There were 40 drivers on the grid. Coo Coo Marlin had an engine problem on lap 33 out of 400 laps - earning him a last place position and $1,455 ($ when adjusted for inflation).
