Carl Marcellino
Carl L. Marcellino (born December 23, 1942) is an American politician who served as a member of the New York State Senate from 1995 to 2018. He was first elected in a March 1995 special election following the resignation of former state senate majority leader Ralph J. Marino; he was defeated by Jim Gaughran in 2018. Marcellino represented the 5th district, which comprises parts of Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island. Marcellino is a member of the Republican Party. Life and career Marcellino attended public schools in Queens, New York. He received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degree from New York University. Marcellino worked as a science teacher and administrator in the New York City school system for 20 years. Prior to serving in the State Senate, he was Town Clerk of Oyster Bay. The Town of Oyster Bay is the easternmost of the three towns which make up Nassau County, New York, United States. Part of the New York metropolitan area, it is the only town in Nassau County to extend from the North Shore to the South Shore of Long Island. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 301,332.
