Carl Franks
Carl Franks (born December 1, 1960) is an American football coach and former player. He currently serves as the running backs coach at Bethune–Cookman University. Franks served as the head football coach at Duke University from 1999 to 2003, compiling a record of 7–45. He played football at Duke where he was an Academic All-ACC selection. Coaching career Franks was as an assistant coach under Steve Spurrier for 12 years. He served as Spurrier's running backs coach with the United States Football League's Tampa Bay Bandits in 1985, at Duke from 1987 to 1989 and at the University of Florida from 1990 to 1992 and again from 1995 to 1998, serving as the position coach for future National Football League Pro Bowler Fred Taylor. Bethune–Cookman Wildcats Football
The Bethune–Cookman Wildcats football team represents Bethune–Cookman University in the sport of college football. The Wildcats compete in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Starting with the fall 2021 season, they compete in the East Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), after having been members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) since 1979. The 2000 NCAA Division I-A football season ended with the Oklahoma Sooners claiming their seventh national championship and their thirty-seventh conference championship, the first of each since the departure of head coach Barry Switzer. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was in his second season as head coach, having been the defensive coordinator of Steve Spurrier's 1996 National Champion Florida Gators, and also having helped Bill Snyder turn the Kansas State Wildcats around in the early 1990s. Stoops erased a three-game losing streak against rival Texas by a score of 63–14, one of the worst defeats in Texas' football history. 1999 NCAA Division I-A Football Season
The 1999 NCAA Division I-A football season saw Florida State named national champions, defeating Virginia Tech in the BCS Sugar Bowl. Florida State became the first team in history to start out preseason No. 1 and remain there through the entire season. Their 12–0 season gave them 109 victories in the '90s, the most for any decade. Virginia Tech also had a remarkable season behind freshman quarterback Michael Vick, who was being touted as college football's best player. Willie Taggart
Willie Author Taggart (born August 27, 1976) is an American football college coach. He has held the head coach position at five NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision programs: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football, Western Kentucky (2009 to 2012 seasons); South Florida Bulls football, South Florida (2013 to 2016); Oregon Ducks football, Oregon (2017); Florida State Seminoles football, Florida State (2018 and part of the 2019 season); and Florida Atlantic Owls football, Florida Atlantic (2020 to 2022). James Pierce Leavitt (born December 5, 1956) is an American football coach and former player. He served as the head coach at the University of South Florida from the football program's inception in 1997 until 2009, compiling a record of 95–57. Early years Leavitt grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, and was a star quarterback for Dixie Hollins High School. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen.
