Carl Forkum
Carl Schurz Forkum (November 23, 1882 – March 19, 1934) was an American football and baseball player and coach. He served as the 11th head football coach at West Virginia University West Virginia University (WVU) is a public land-grant research university with its main campus in Morgantown, West Virginia. Its other campuses are those of the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Beckley, Potomac State College ... and he held that position for two seasons, from 1905 to 1906. His coaching record at West Virginia was 13–6. Forkum died in 1934 of "complications of diseases" after a month in a hospital. Clarion, Pennsylvania
Clarion is a borough in and the county seat of Clarion County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located north-northeast of Pittsburgh and is part of the Pittsburgh DMA. Clarion was settled in 1839 and incorporated in 1841. In the past, the surrounding area produced natural gas, oil, lumber and coal. The population was 2,004 in 1900, 2,864 in 1910, and 3,931 at the 2020 census, down from 5,276 at the 2010 census. It is home to the annual Autumn Leaf Festival and Clarion University of Pennsylvania. The county courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Geography Clarion is located slightly northeast of the center of Clarion County at (41.211791, -79.384005), in the Allegheny Plateau region of western Pennsylvania. The 1905 college football season had the Chicago Maroons retroactively named as national champion by the Billingsley Report, the Helms Athletic Foundation, the National Championship Foundation, and the Houlgate System, while Yale was named champion by Parke H. Davis and Caspar Whitney. Chicago finished the season 11–0, while Yale finished 10–0.
