Carl Crossin
Carl Crossin OAM (born 1953) is an Australian choral conductor, educator and composer. He is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the University of Adelaide. He was a director of the Elder Conservatorium of Music in the University of Adelaide in 2010–14. Early development Crossin's initial tertiary education was at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he was awarded a Diploma in Music Education specialising in guitar. While in Sydney, he taught at Whalan High School and developed his conducting skills with the University of NSW Choral Society and the Lachrymae Singers, which he founded. In 1978 he moved to Adelaide to study at the University of Adelaide and became a music teacher at the Special Music Centre at Brighton High School, as it was then known, where he stayed for fourteen years. Gondwana Choirs is an Australian national choral organisation. It was founded in 1989 as Sydney Children’s Choir by Lyn Williams AM, who is its artistic director. The choirs' rehearsal studios are located at the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct in Dawes Point. The Australian Music Centre (AMC), formerly known briefly as Sounds Australian, is a national organisation promoting and supporting art music in Australia, founded in 1974. It co-hosts the Art Music Awards along with APRA AMCOS, and publishes ''Resonate Magazine''. Description AMC provides advocacy, representation, and publishing services as well as career support and professional development programmes. Initially focussed on contemporary classical music, its purview has expanded to experimental music, sound art, contemporary jazz, and improvisatory music.
