Carl Fredrick Becker
Carl Fredrick Becker (also known as Carl F. Becker and Carl Becker Jr.) (1919 – January 30, 2013) was an American luthier and restorer, known for restoring the " Lady Blunt" 1721 Stradivarius violin. He had a reputation as "one of America's finest violin makers" and “the dean of American violin-making”. Becker was a founding member of both the International Association of Violin and Bow Makers (Entente Internationale des Luthiers et Archetiers) and the American Federation of Violin and Bowmakers. Several important American luthiers trained under his guidance including Peter Beare, Eric Benning (of Benning Violins), Charles Rufino, Sebastian Zens and Samuel Zygmuntowicz. Carl Heinrich Becker
Carl Heinrich Becker (12 April 1876 – 10 February 1933) was a German orientalist and politician in Prussia. In 1921 and 1925–1930 he served as Minister for Culture in Prussia (independent). He was one of the founders of the study of the contemporary Middle East and a reformer of the system of higher education in the Weimar Republic. Early life and study Becker was born in Amsterdam, the son of a banker. He attended universities at Lausanne, Heidelberg, and Berlin, and travelled in Spain, Sudan, Greece, and Turkey, before earning his doctorate in 1899. Academic career In 1902, Becker became a ''privatdozent'' for semitic philology at the University of Heidelberg, where he came into contact with Max Weber. __NOTOC__ Carl Becker (16 January 1895 – 24 March 1966) was a German general during World War II, who commanded several divisions. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves of Nazi Germany. Arning surrendered to the Red Army troops in the course of the Soviet Prague Offensive in 1945. Convicted in the Soviet Union as a war criminal, he was held until 1955. Becker belonged to the generation of military officers of the First World War, which largely corresponded with parts of the Nazi ideology prevailed and in the second half of World War II became an important pillar of the military system. Carl Emil Rudolf Ludwig Becker (31 August 1862, Hamelin12 February 1926, Hamburg) was a German marine artist. Life and work His father was a military doctor. In 1866, as a result of the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by the Kingdom of Prussia, his father was transferred to Altona (now part of Hamburg), where he grew up. He attended the realschule there, and received his first art lessons from the marine painter, . In 1887, he enrolled at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Until 1893, he was a student of the landscape painter, Eugen Dücker, He also studied engraving and etching with Carl Ernst Forberg. He was awarded gold medals at the International Art Exhibition of 1894, in Vienna, and the Große Berliner Kunstausstellung of 1896. Karl Ferdinand Becker (17 July 1804 Leipzig – 26 October 1877 Plagwitz section of Leipzig), was a German writer on music, composer and an organist.
