Carl-Johan Björk
Carl-Johan Björk (born February 26, 1982) is a former American football linebacker in NFL Europe for the Amsterdam Admirals. He also was a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League. Early years Björk played with Team Europe, which was a squad of top junior players from Europe, that was put together to compete against high school All-star teams from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan. He was a member of the Swedish National team and was also a two-time Nordic champion. He was a three-time Swedish champion with the Stockholm Mean Machines. In 2004, he was named the MVP in the Swedish league. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). NFL Europe League (simply called NFL Europe and known in its final season as NFL Europa League) was a professional American football league that functioned as the developmental minor league of the National Football League (NFL). In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. The Berlin Thunder were a professional American football team in NFL Europe. History The Thunder came into existence as an expansion team, after the London/England Monarchs franchise shut down operations, prior to the 1999 season.
