Carine Ngarlemdana
Carine Ngarlemdana (born 13 November 1994) is a Chadian judoka. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's -70 kg event. She was the flag bearer for Chad at the opening ceremony. Early life Carine Ngarlemdana was born in N'Djamena, Chad, on 13 November 1994. She was the youngest of four children, and went on to attend Heredity High School in the city. Her father was a physical education teacher, and began to coach Ngarlemdana as she took up judo from the age of five. Judo career At the age of 12, she won a bronze medal at a national competition held in N'Djamena. She began to prepare for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, by travelling to the International Center of African Judo in Algiers, Algeria, to train from March 2011 onwards for the following 20 months on a scholarship. Sally Conway (born 1 February 1987) is a Scottish retired judoka who competed for Team GB in the 2012 and the 2016 Rio Olympics in the women's 70 kg judo event. Conway won a bronze medal in the 2016 Olympics. She competed for Scotland at women's 70 kg judo event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where she won a bronze medal. Biography Conway was born in Bristol in 1987. Conway took up judo at the age of ten in her home town of Bristol. She trains at Judo Scotland's Edinburgh headquarters in Ratho, having previously trained at Bisham Abbey. She competed for Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, where she won a bronze medal in the −70 kg division. Bibiro Ali Taher (born 24 April 1988) is a Chadian long-distance runner. She moved from Chad to France aged five, and took up athletics aged seven in Calvados, France. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 5000 metres but did not finish her race. She was the flag bearer for Chad at the Parade of Nations. Early life Bibiro Ali Taher moved with her parents from Chad to Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Normandy, France, when she was aged seven. When she was 20, she began to pursue athletics, first at a college in Saint-Michel and then moved to Sotteville-lès-Rouen where she was offered a sports scholarship. While pursuing her athletics career, Taher became a stewardess for Air France. Athletic career This attracted the attention of the Chadian sporting officials, who arranged for Taher to visit training facilities in Kenya once a year for the following six years. is the highest score a fighter can achieve in a Japanese martial arts ''ippon-wazari'' contest, usually kendo, judo, karate or jujitsu. In Judo In Judo, an ippon may be scored for a throw, a pin, a choke or a jointlock. For throws, the four criteria to grant an ippon are: speed, force, landing on the back and skilful control until the end of the landing.
