	Carew (surname) Carew is a Welsh and Cornish habitation-type surname; it has also been used as a synonym for the Irish patronymic Ó Corráin. ''Carey'' can be a variant. History The Cambro-Norman Carew family sprang from the same stock as the FitzGeralds: viz. from the union of Gerald de Windsor alias Gerald FitzWalter (1070–1136), the Norman Constable of Pembroke, Pembrokeshire and Nest ferch Rhys, Princess of Deheubarth, the 'Helen of Wales'. These Carews descend from Gerald and Nest's oldest son William FitzGerald de Carew. The family home was at Carew, Pembrokeshire ( cy, Caeriw) from a fortified site and later castle, and originally a holding of Nest's royal father, Rhys Ap Tewdwr. 	Carew, Pembrokeshire Carew ( cy, Caeriw) is a village, parish and community on an inlet of Milford Haven in the former Hundred of Narberth, Pembrokeshire, West Wales, east of Pembroke. The eastern part of the parish is in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Description The meaning of the name is unclear. In Welsh it could mean "fort on a hill" (Caer-rhiw), "fort by yews" (Caer-yw) or simply "forts" (Caerau). The village grew up to serve the nearby Norman castle. The parish includes several other villages and hamlets, including Carew Cheriton (around the parish church), Carew Newton, Milton, West Williamston, Sageston and Whitehill. Textile mills gave Milton its name. In the 19th century, there was a carding mill downstream, a weaving mill by the bridge, and a fulling mill upstream. 	Carew (electoral Ward) Carew was the name of an electoral ward in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It was also coterminous with the boundaries of the community of Carew. A ward of Pembrokeshire County Council since 1995 it was previously a ward of the former South Pembrokeshire District Council. picture info	Seaton Carew Seaton Carew is a seaside resort and civil parish in the Borough of Hartlepool in County Durham, England. It had an estimated population of 6,018. The area is named after a Norman French family called Carou who owned lands in the area and settled there, while 'Seaton' means farmstead or settlement by the sea.
