Carel Godfried Willem Hendrik Baron Van Boetzelaer Van Oosterhout
Carel Godfried Willem Hendrik (Pim), Baron van Boetzelaer van Oosterhout (17 November 1892, in Amersfoort – 20 May 1986, in Ubbergen) was a Dutch diplomat and politician. Van Boetzelaer van Oosterhout's father was mayor of Leusden. After studying at Utrecht University and obtaining a Master of Laws at the University of Amsterdam in 1921, he held many diplomatic positions abroad including in Washington DC (1926–29), Mexico City (1929–30), Brussels (1930-1934), and Berlin (1934-1940). After the German invasion of the Netherlands he led the diplomatic affairs in London from May to August 1940 after which he became ambassador for the Netherlands in Washington DC. He held this position until he was asked, as a non-partisan, to become Minister of Foreign Affairs in the first Beel cabinet (3 July 1946 to 7 August 1948). Beel I - Pim Van Boetzelaer Van Oosterhout
A beel (Bengali and Assamese: বিল) is a billabong or a lake-like wetland with static water (as opposed to moving water in rivers and canals - typically called in Bengali, in the Ganges - Brahmaputra flood plains of the Eastern Indian states of West Bengal, and Assam and in the country of Bangladesh. The term owes its origins to the word of the same pronunciation meaning "pond" and "lake" in the Bengali and Assamese languages. Formation Typically, beels are formed by inundation of low-lying lands during flooding, where some water gets trapped even after flood waters recede back from the flood plains. Beels may also be caused by filling up of low-lying areas during rains, especially during the monsoon season. There are different causes for the formation of beels. Netherlands Cabinet Beel-1
The First Beel cabinet was the executive branch of the Dutch Government from 3 July 1946 until 7 August 1948. The cabinet was formed by the christian-democratic Catholic People's Party (KVP) and the social-democratic Labour Party (PvdA) after the election of 1946. The cabinet was a centre-left grand coalition and had a substantial majority in the House of Representatives with prominent Catholic politician Louis Beel serving as Prime Minister and dual served as Minister of the Interior continuing from the previous cabinet. Labour Leader Willem Drees continued as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs from the previous cabinet.
