Cardboard City
Cardboard city (Serbian language, Serbian: Картон сити, ''Karton siti'') was an informal settlement, or locally classified as ''unhygienic settlement'', basically a slum in the capital of Serbia. It was located in Belgrade's municipality of Novi Beograd. The settlement was completely evicted and cleared in 2009. Settlement Most of the houses in the Cardboard city were built, as its name suggests, from Corrugated fiberboard, cardboard or other non-building materials, like plywood or nylon bags. The settlement had no communal infrastructure (roads, running water, sewage, electricity). The settlement was located beneath the bridges ''Gazela'' and ''Stari železnički''. The settlement was just a few kilometers away from the downtown Belgrade, close to the Block 19 and Block 20, and in contrast to five-star hotels Hyatt Regency Belgrade and Continental Hotel Belgrade. Blokovi ( sr-cyr, Блокови, English: "Blocks") or Novobeogradski blokovi ( sr-cyr, Новобеоградски блокови) is the semi-formal plural name for a group of urban neighborhoods in Belgrade's municipality of New Belgrade. The neighborhood is located in the southeastern urbanized section of the New Belgrade municipality, on the left bank of the Sava river, across from the islands of Ada Međica and Ada Ciganlija. It is bound by the neighborhoods of Bežanija and Bežanijska Kosa from the north, Block 58 from the southeast (neighborhood of Savski Nasip) and the neighborhood of Dr Ivan Ribar from the west. New Belgrade ( sr, / , ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. It is a planned city, built since 1948 in a previously uninhabited area on the left bank of the Sava river, opposite old Belgrade. Romani people, or Roma ( sr, Роми, Romi), are the third largest ethnic group in Serbia, numbering 147,604 (2.1%) according to the 2011 census. Gazela Bridge
The Gazela Bridge ( sr, Mост Газела, Most Gazela) is the most important bridge over the Sava river in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is a part of the city highway and it lies on European route E75, on the highway passing through the wider city center, connecting Belgrade with Niš to the south, and Novi Sad to the north. The bridge was designed by a group of engineers led by Milan Đurić, and built by the Mostogradnja company. Name The name of the bridge, ''gazela'' is Serbian for "gazelle". Đorđe Lazarević, who was president of the competition commission, said that "this bridge leaped over the Sava like a jumping gazelle", and the name stuck. Dedinje ( sr-cyrl, Дедиње, ) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Savski Venac. Dedinje is generally considered the wealthiest part of Belgrade, and is the site of numerous villas and mansions owned by the members of the city's plutocracy, as well as many diplomatic residences. Dr Ivan Ribar ( sr-cyr, Др Иван Рибар) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of New Belgrade. Location Dr Ivan Ribar is the westernmost neighborhood in the western outskirts of Novi Beograd. It is narrow and rectangular, bordered on the east by ''Dr Ivan Ribar'' street and the neighborhood of Blokovi, and on the west by the mostly uninhabited field of ''Jasenovo''.
